The park is easily accessible from downtown Keelung if you don't mind a bit of a climb - lots of stairs up from the street to get you on the ridgetop. Once you're up there, it's a nice, largely shaded walk to some uniquely decorated, if weather-beaten temples and shrines. You can climb all the way up to the top of one of the temples for some excellent views of the city, and there's a nice, raised platform across from it to get a nice picture of the place when you come down. Further up the ridge is the active temple and the giant Buddha statue, which you can actually go into and climb to the top of if desired (not that I'd recommend this - the view is limited and it's a touch claustrophobic in there!). The park was rather quiet when I was there, but the temple was open, as was a souvenir store if you felt the need to buy a buddha statue or some other piece of Taiwanese kitsch. Mostly the benefit was a nice walk and the views.

We arrived today on a cruise ship. We noticed a temple and found our way to a series of 80 steps followed by another 70 steps taking you ever higher. Our first stop was a Taoist temple which was very impressive, but needed repair and was partially roped off. Their was a small free museum. We continued our climb to the Buddha statue and finally the park which was very pretty. From here you got some nice views of the harbor. This is not for anyone who is not in good physical condition, but worthwhile.

A fairly long walk through the park to the summit. Going up the giant statue provided some spectacular views of Keelung and a chance to ring the big Buddist's bell. Unfortunately the grounds have now become a little tacky with all the vendors.

It's on top of a hill so at a clear day there must be a nice view over Keelung. When I went there it seemed to be closed and there wasn't anything to see & do. I couldn't get inside and to the top of that big Guanyin statue which was the main reason going to the park. From the center of Keelung it requires quite a lot of walking and climbing stairs to get there. Not really recommend the park unless you're for some reason very interested in going there.

There's literally quite a few things to do. Hiking to the park, watching down a city of Keelung, wait for taxi...

Walked from the hotel up to the park using "local" stairways. The view of Keelung is great and there are sections of the park frequented by local residents trying to fine a cool place with a possible breeze. Everyone I met was friendly and a surprising number spoke English and were genuinely interested in making sure I was aware of all the things to see and do.

From Maritime Bureau cross the road to reach opposite. The cultural centre building is opposite. Passing it , turn & follow the street, you will find steps climbing upon to your left. Just climb it. Firstly you will get into Ghost Festival museum & then follow up the path to reach Zhongzheng park where you will find the unique statue(Guan yin). Around the statue, there are plenty of recreational facility for kids & restaurant to refresh. It occupies a commanding view of Kelang Harbor. Very nice to view it. Also, on the back of the statue, there is a stair going up to view the city from all sides.

As part of a 'whirwind' tour for Taiwan, we popped into this place during a rainy December day. The giant Kuan Yin goddess occupies the centre attraction and there are good view across the Keelung jetty.A little memento shop is there, and some food shops are there, nothing else much...on that rainy day in December.

I had to look for the good on this stop. My first impression was a little disappointing because it was an old amusement attraction mixed with cultural tidbits. I think the statutes were most interesting and watching the few locals enjoying with their kids the amusement rides which one of them played Jesus loves me which seemed out of character for this place No I would not do again

The Goddess of Mercy is Gorgeous and very tall, making her truly a sight to behold in person. We even got go to the top of the statue via a staircase inside, which I recommend for the amazing views from the top! Be careful though because the stairs are very small! The drum and bell towers were very lovely and you could walk right into them to admire the craftsmanship. The temple itself is very lovely and peaceful; a great experience. The lion creatures are awesome too! They were huge and ever so charming. I highly recommend a stop here!

Great park on a mountain with different temples and a yearly festival of ghost during the summer. Worth a good hike. Huge statu of Guanin overlooking Keelung harbor
