I followed the directions from www.japan-guide.com to get here and it was very helpful. From Susukino, there's a streetcar that loops to the Ropeway Iriguchi station (fare is JPY170/way), and just 50 meters from the station, there's a free shuttle bus to take you to the entrance of the Ropeway. The round trip ropeway and mini cable car fare is JPY1700 per adult. When we got to the visitor center, the lady informed us it was cloudy and almost no visibility. It was literally freezing cold but we still took the chance, hoping that it would somehow clear when we get there. It was small hope but it was enough because we were still able to take pictures and at least we saw something. It began to really clear when we were on our way back. Unfortunately my camera wasn't powerful enough to capture the scenery because it's not good for low light. I do have a friend whose camera I borrowed so I could take some memorable shots. I'll upload it another time. We'll come back in the daytime the next time we visit.

We initially wanted to go to Mt Moiwa Ski Resort. But the taxi driver misunderstood and dropped us off at the Ropeway (the Ski Resort is on the same mountain but a different approach). Since we are here we took the short trip up. The Ropeway to the mid station and cable car to the top station offers an excellent view of Sapporo. While we are at the top of the mountain, we can see people hike up the mountain in snowshoes, looks like fun and physically demanding. On our way back to downtown Sapporo, we took the shuttle bus down to the mountain base, took the tram and got off at the last stop (Odori Subway Station). Tram costs 200 yen and comes every 6-7 minutes so very convenient.

It was a lovely short trip from Sapporo City by tram. We took a free shuttle bus from the nearest tram station to the ropeway station but you can walk if you like. Ropeway and Moris car were very modern and operated smoothly every 15 mins. The view from the top was beautiful. It was cloudy but we still could see landmarks like Sapporo Dome (the baseball stadium). It would have been more beautiful if we visited at night.

A fantastic 270 degree view can be seen from the top which shows how spread out Sapporo is. This was a fun expedition.

You can enjoy 360-degree view. If the sky is clear, daytime is also great I guess, but my recommendation is evening. Very romantic!

Since our last visit in 2010 it was completely renovated and made more accessable. We visited during a very clear day and the view was excellent! Please visit when in Sapporo!

We went up towards the evening and were presented with a fabulous view of the city at twilight followed by night view. It was very windy though!

We visited late afternoon and saw spectacular views of Sapporo, all the was up, including a great lookout.

The trip up the mountain on the ropeway car and the cable car was interesting. We went during the day as part of the trip, so the view of the city although expansive was not spectacular. I think the night view on a clear day would be much better. It was pretty cold at the top in May so if you go in the winter, I would expect you would really need to bundle up, especially if it is windy and you are on the top observation deck.

We took public transport and with a little help from Google Maps found it with no problem. only issue was the cold; but what do you expect, it's winter time! The view from the top is spectacular but couldn't stay outside for long due ot the cold.

This is a must visit for all locals and tourists! You get to see a wonderfully breathtaking view on top of Mount Moiwa. If you a couple, buy a padlock and write your wishes on it before you go to the place. They do sell padlocks there as well (but best to bring your own) lock it up at the Observation Deck, wish and ring the bell! It is believed that your wish will come true. :DIf you're travelling there during winter, be prepared for the weather there to be chilly cold. When I went there end of February, it was -3 degree Celsius, so be well prepared.

Before going to Sapporo in time for its Snow Festival, I researched for possible tourist sites we can visit and found Mt. Moiwa interesting because of its cable car feature and the chance to see Sapporo from atop a mountain. I think this is a much safer and less scary flight to see Sapporo's snow white city scape than the Okurayama Ski Jumps' chair lift. We went to ride the bus to the Ropeway but has to endure the 1 km walk uphill to the entrance. However, if you dont want to walk, there is a shuttle bus that goes to and from the tram station that will take you to the Suskino subway station where you can transfer trains to your other destinations. The ropeway consists of three cable car stations and transfers to reach Mt. Moiwa's peak and observation deck. The observation deck has a great top view of the city of Sapporo, which featured a Lover's Sanctuary with a couple bell and love locks. The building also houses souvenir shops, restaurant, a planetarium and a 3-D theater. You can also hire the snow tank for a ride around the building , where you will get a 360° top view of Sapporo City.

Cold weather made the air clear and the views of Sapporo are magnificent.Easy to get to. Early winter nit too cold, but with the effort. Wonderful trip up mountain, wonderful views, and some out door play area

I could walk from the mid of station at Moiwa Mt. to the top. It takes only 10-15 min by walk. You can have a beautiful view of Sapporo city from the top if the weather is good. There was a small gift shop at the station and I bought some sweets which are only sold in Sapporo and hard to find in a down town.

We took the ropeway to the first observatory and walked up to the top. The extra 600yen for a 2 minute ride seemed a bit unnecessary. Great views of the city and surrounding area.
