If you have an interest in Icat, bead work or weaving, this is for you. Not sophisticated. Just great work. Talking to Juliana in the gift shop about her bead work and the tribal work she collects is worth the visit alone.

Probably not going to be top of many male travellers must see places but there are some really good clothing exibits which are interesting to see. There is also no charge to enter.

The museum is housed in a building which is as interesting as the display of textiles, could have been better, but free entry so no complaints

Well displayed and captioned textiles from various ethnic groups in Borneo. Marvel at the skill of the women who prepare the yarns, dye, weave and embroider such rich cloth . Three floors. Allow an hour to visit. Free!

Love the gorgeous textiles on display. Even the building is charming. Unfortunately, it was almost closing time when we went and we didn't get to finish the top floor.Come latest by 3 pm so you'd have full hour to tour the museum.

Has some nice fabrics and textiles from the different cultures of Sarawak. Worth spending a half hour walking through. I bought some nice bracelets in the gift shop at a great price.

You will gain vast knowledge of how the people in Sarawak make their arts and clothes. Good education for children.

Sarawak is very famous for its cultural richness, apart from the biodiversity. This is a place where you can explore the textile of various cultures in the state, not only the cultural beauty but also the very down-to-earth and practical way of making the textile portraying the indigenous culture of Sarawak.

This museum was much nicer than we thought it would be.Beautiful and colourful dresses, knittings, fabrics from all over Sarawak, clothing items used for different customs.Great visit!

I walked in to take cover on a rainy afternoon. Well documented on two floors. Much information on the history and process of weaving.

Lovely material, nice staff and gift shop. The displays and very good and you can 'get up close'. Spent 45/60 in the cool of a steamy day.

Pretty much a work in progress. The textiles are reasonable but the narrative of the works could be much better
  • Randali_Orange
Not special but it was ok. There was a bit of history to be absorbed. They did try to make it interesting. The gift shop isn't too bad, and the lady that runs it claims to make everything herself

If you have a lot of time, go there! it's quite interesting and there is no entrance fee. but it's old fashioned and dirty

The best part of Kuching is no entrance fee to the museums including this Textile Museum. Located just opposite the General Post Office. Its rich in the local heritage in terms of their traditional clothing and motifs displayed. The interior is well maintained, and cool, away from the outside tropical heat. You get to appreciate the beautiful handicraft work of the native culture.
