Long Dog is one of the best wineries in the county. James has great stories to tell while being a first rate wine maker.

We visited multiple wineries in the PEC area and this one was underwhelming. Felt like we were intruding, as another reviewer mentioned, as the hostess was not very warm or informative. The wines were not bad, but none of them stood out to us. The daschund, Fern, is very cute and the decoration of the tasting room is quite unique. However, thought Exultet, Half Moon, and Lighthall (all in the same area) had much more tasty Pinots and Chardonnays.

Well worth a visit. This winery has an excellent array of whites and reds. Their Chardonnay is particularly tasty.

You walk from the parking lot down a short trial to the tasting and retail building...sort of felt like following the rabbit down the path.Tasty Chardonnay - stood out as wine of my choosing!

My wife and I came across this winery 2 years ago on a weekend getaway and decided to pay a return visit and stock up!... A small boutique type spot out of the way has limited selections of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay but they are very good and reasonably priced. The owners were friendly, courteous and welcoming. We had our "LONG DOG" with us and he was made to feel very much at home!

Had great experiences at so many local wineries, but here it just felt like we were interrupting their day.

We were planning on going to many wineries, but ended up going to just this one. The wine is that good and James is an amazing winemaker, in addition to being a jack of all trades. Highly recommended.

Walking in this winery, the first things that I noticed was that they only had two varietals: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and that the youngest Pinot Noir was 2008... Hummm! This place is serious...Their 2010 Chardonnay Belle Reserva was the perfect balance of fruit and oak ageing, unlike some of the big name wineries around Wellington and Hillier that produce plank juice. Since James the winemaker was around, we started talking and finally wound up in the winery across the road where we sampled 2010 Pinot Noirs that were.... Well! I'll say it: AMAZING. Not amazing for PEC. Just amazing, period. I would compare to the best first growths in Burgundy. Something like a Beaune, Les Grèves... Compared to the anemic Pinot Noirs of Wellington, this was heaven. Can't wait for James to bottle the 2010...

Love going to Long Dog when we are in PEC, the location is isolated and full of old world charm, their Pinots are fantastic, and if you find the owner he'll charm you with his passion and his stories. Great place to go tasting and buying a few bottles or a case.

We loved the wine here and found the owner to be very interesting and engaging. We were the only ones there for the majority of our stay so we got all of his attention but it was well worth the trip. We bought several bottles and are still enjoying the wine.

My husband and I were told about this winery by our B&B host. He gave us glasses of a wonderful chardonnay that they make so we had to go. We loved the tastings and bought several bottles. I especially liked the Pinot Gris.

Long Dog is well worth the drive! Some of the vintners in the County have a hard time dealing with the sulphuric taste which comes from the terroir and a difficult time coaxing a lot of flavour out of their pinot grapes but not Long Dog. The whites are very well balanced with good caramel notes but not cloying. The reds are clean, good fruit notes and very versatile. The proprietors are knowledgeable and down to earth. They celarly take pride in their work and products. I will definitely go back

We had exactly the same experience as another reviewer (Ontmajo) -- rudely ignored by the woman pourer after driving 30 km out of our way specifically to visit that winery. We left without making our planned purchase. If she is the wife of the owner, I guess there is no point in complaining -- which is too bad, as she is clearly a huge detriment to the operation.

My wife and I have been in Toronto (from Montreal) for about 6 years and each year we've been visiting the county and we always include a trip to our favourite winery Long Dog in Milford. We like our wine but are not experts by any means and the experience there is always down to earth and real which we appreciate. It's beautiful surroundings and we always make it a point to stay for a glass. The owners are terrific and interesting and always make time to chat.We will keep frequenting the county and continue to build in Long Dog into the itenirary.Cheers!Ariel

We were a group of five women on a weekend in the County. I'd visited the winery in the past and really enjoyed it so wanted to intro the winery and their wines to my friends. It was the first winery we visited on the weekend (Saturday at noon) and were completely ignored. This was the first time a lady was in the tasting room as when I'd visited previously, there were two gentlemen who my husband and I very much enjoyed meeting. I believe the woman in the tasting room that day is the wife of the owner. One of the members in our group asked a question about the differences between same year Pinot vintages however the reply was terse and almost rude. We were taken aback and disappointed in the complete lack of attention and good manners. We were the only visitors at the tasting room at the time. We did purchase a couple of bottles of wine and left quickly. In retrospect we should not have patronized the winery. We went on to three other nearby wineries, including Exultet and Lighthall and our experience was excellent, both in terms of a friendly welcome, informative staff and great tasting wines. We filled a case!
