As a tourist destination, I question why the "U of C" is even on Tripadvisor. But, on second thought...it does have some cool discoveries:> It's heated by steam, so if you ever have the chance to go into the tunnels, take it. Not many people get to see them. They're unique and interesting.> Its got an awesome ice rink. Speed skaters from across Alberta train on this fast ice. Of course, you can visit on the public skate days, and rent skates there.> Most of the buildings are connected. You may have to go the long way, but it does mean that (like many residents) you can wear your pajamas to class.> The cheapest gear rental facility, called the "Outdoor Centre", in the city is here AND you can rent almost anything: boats, wheelchairs, crampons, hiking sticks, balls, bikes, skis... Even tents and sleeping bags to go camping!> There's a "video games research lab" on campus.> There's a bouldering wall that anyone can climb (of course, you have to do a proper belay test first).> There are two ponds on the University's property. One is in Swann Mall (not a shopping mall...) and the other is over by the Alberta Children's Hospital. The hospital pond is a great place to see wildlife.> Peregrine falcons nest every year on campus. You can watch the live camera of them in the spring. Yes, the falcons eat other birds. So don't touch the dead birds - you've probably just scared off the falcon and he'll come back for lunch as soon as you're gone.> The University has its own hotel. This is really convenient for anyone who's coming here for a conference.

I recently went to U of C to watch the AIBF festival for bands. The building was great and had a nice musical facility. The staff was quite useful in finding out where to go. It is quite close to city centre, which made it convenient.

I absolutely love what all they offer for all ages. My son takes swim classes there. He enjoys it and the teachers he had so far were all fantastic.

I live here and I guarantee that if you are hungry after 9 PM and you don't have a car and don't have food in the fridge you will be in trouble,

Alberta's Oil Patch has afforded UofC enormous funding last 20 years & campus has grown accordingly, now "sporting" advanced degrees in all professions (Law, Eng, Med, Arch). UofC "welcomes" foreign students. UofC flaunts the famous 1988 Winter Olympic Speed Skating Oval. The Oval hosts international events yearly; if you've never had the experience you can rent Speed Skates & go for a whirl -- don't think you can do that anywhere else in Canada. The new Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL) was a bug hit right from opening day Jan 2011. However, rich lazy foreign students & Easy Oil Money are also at the root of a # of UofC problems -- including a paranoid security mentality (Calgary has been plagued by foreigner-violence last few years), shameless anti-white sentiment, & an anti-intellectual, even brain-dead, party-hearty campus outlook. Unless you are majoring in Petroleum Eng consider your options.

I visited for work and had an opportunity to view much of the campus. The setting and architecture and very nice. Lucky student and faculty.

As an alumni i can say with confidence that U of C is a credible and reputable institution. instructors care and are well versed in their areas of practice. I am a proud alumni.. Give back to the school when you can.

The University of Calgary appears to be an increasingly expanding "set of buildings." The result is an eclectic mix of "newer" and "older" facilities. There is great train access to downtown Calgary; however, we had difficulty getting taxi service from the university

I went there and my daughter is studying. Best university to study and stay at home. Great education and students love it

It's a huge Campus with a lot of young open-minded people. The library is the newest building and it's worth a visit. In fall you can see nice sunsets from the 6th level ;)

Lots of pathways and all the buildings are open to the public. Student centre has lots of food choices and shopping in the food court area. Book store has great non-student books and great gift ideas. Walk with someone at night as there are some blind spots that have danger potential

Watching Canada's long track speed skating team compete for spots on the World Cup tour was exciting. the atmosphere at the Olympic Oval is fun, friendly and informal as Canada's Olympians, National team and development team and club athletes mingle an race. If you have the opportunity you should drop in to watch a competition or the weekly time trials every Saturday morning. Athletes from all around the world are training and racing here year round.

The University of Calgary has a perimeter, unlike some other universities where you can't tell where it begins and ends. Design is fluid, with no linear linkage of buildings, the core being linked by underground walkways allowing warm passage in cold weather. You can go from student residence to many buildings this way, fabulous when it's freezing outside!
