What a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours - beats shopping for your dinner !! A tranquil setting, having a go at fishing for the first time, lots of help to ensure you catch something who could ask for more. You get more because the helpful staff clean, gut and fillet the fish you catch and hot smoke it !! Take it home or eat in - fantastic idea - I really enjoyed my time there. The owner was lovely and friendly. Also no catch of the day no pay - great idea !!! They even have some in the freezer if you really didn't manage to catch one !!

We had a lot of fun, even though sadly we didn't end up catching salmon. They give you 1 bait with each fishing rod and it wasn't until later that we realised that most people who caught anything had heaps of extra bait that they would throw in the water when casting. So we ended up buying a bag of bait and used all up without catching anything. Unlucky! Then we decided to get some food at the restaurant on site. Our salmon sandwiches were delicious! Service was average, I didn't feel much passion and enthusiasm from staff. I'd definitely go back there and buy lots of bait to start with and try my luck again.

Great place, but did not catch a fish! We had to give up after 90 minutes as we had a toddler who was running out of patience. Was very busy and a hot day so maybe this was the problem. My husband has been twice before and had no problem quickly catching one. Taste beautiful once smoked by them.

My young boy and I enjoyed the fishing (very easy to catch a fish) and we all enjoyed getting it smoked and consuming it :-) There was a brilliant-displayed peacock near the carpark that enjoyed spending time with us.

A return visit to Anatoki Salmon for us. This time with my elderly mother and my now 10 year old son. We had a great day but the fish were hard to catch. Last time after buying some bait we were almost guaranteed a fish, this time the fish semed more wary of the hook. I was told that it was because it was a hot day. Anyway we did manage to catch one fish and we had it smoked (Basil and garlic) and it was delicious! We had a great day but we had one grumble and that was really nothing to do with the establishment but more to do with some of the other people fishing. We had at least two ladies (one with a young toddler) wander into the area we were fishing and just stand in the way of our casts. Obviously having no idea of what damage a flying hook could do to them. And we also had a lot of people who lacked manners and just basically pushed my 75 year old mother and my 10 year old son out of their fishing spots. It was not an overly busy day and there was ample room around the lake for everyone . My advice to patrons.....stand your ground. And a suggestion to the owners is maybe signs detailing fishing etiquette/dangers of fishing hooks or someone supervising the fishers. Just a thought.

Great facility, we were fortunate to take three salmon away, one for each of us, the largest at almost 3 kilos. Whilst we enjoyed a nice cool drink in the shade of a lovely pergola our fish was cleaned, filleted and packed for us to take away. It was a perfect day out.

My husband's cousin was visiting from the UK and had never been fishing so we brought her here for a fun afternoon. It took sometime for us to catch a fish as we didn't get the pellets, but we had a lovely time. Got the fish smoked and it was fabulous. Our toddler enjoyed the sandpit and playground. Look forward to coming back.

i drove 1.5 hours from Nelson because my son was so keen to visit, and I am glad we did. We arrived around 11am and left at 3 pm. He caught his first fish within 5 minutes, and the second one at the end. It was a busy day, and I gather the fishing was harder than it can be, and not everyone was catching fish. I was told that an early start increases your chances. Great equipment, use for free. We smoked the first fish and ate it hot whilst waiting for the next. My daughter who normally won't eat salmon wolfed it down, it was amazing. I thought the $50 I spent was a bargain for the fun and food we enjoyed. My daughter enjoyed watching the eels too.The only negatives were the toilets without soap and the 20 minute queue to order at the cafe. Great concept.

We visited Anatoki arriving at 10am New Years Day. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My son and I had landed 6 decent sized fish within an hour. We smoked two of the fish (eating one for lunch) and bagged the rest. There's nothing like fresh fish. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Many thanks to the team at Anatoki.

I went here with my nephew who is in his early twenties and my two little boys. We caught 3 fish, two of which we had smoked and 1 we took home to BBQ. It was a great experience and the delight on my sons face when he first realised he had hooked a fish will stay with me forever! All of the staff are very helpful and the chips and coffee we had in the café were fantastic!

Well my friends have been trying to fish near the Salmon farms and they just didn't catch anything the whole trip. So we happen to drive past this place and wanting to grab some sashimi! Boy I manage to have my first catch and have our meal serve sashimi style! But the chef doesn't seem to know how to cut sashimi salmon, I had like fish bones in my sashimi and its not those melt in your mouth type, its those chewy type. I would recommend if you know how to cut, do it yourself. Other than that it's pretty much easy to fish!!

We caught our Salmon after 3 casts, which if anything was too fast! It's good fun and then you get to eat the beast. Absolutely perfectly smoked! Can't recommend this place enough. One tip though - try to get there before the crowds, i.e. at opening time.Check out more photos and my full write up at www.sarnim.com/farewell-spit/

Unfortunately we missed out on fishing and smoking salmon, as we arrived 30 min before the advertised closing time only to be told the fishing and smoker closes at 430. Very disappointed. Something to remember for next time! Looks like a great attraction for the whole family and still worth stopping for a free look.

As we were celebrating hubby's birthday and fishing is his passion - 22 of us plus 5 kids decided Anatoki Salmon farm would be the place to go. The staff were so accommodating - from explaining the fishing smoking procedure to seating us all with plates and eating gear. They didn't mind that we bought our own salad and drinks, even though they serve a menu. After catching and eating as much as we could, the wonderful staff then vacuum packed the remaining fillets to enjoy another day. Thank you "Anatoki Salmon" for making us all so welcome, and giving all of us a fun day.......Not just the birthday boy.

With only one car parked there, we thought it may have been closed, though walked through and were pleasantly surprised. Hired a fishing line, and after about 20 mins and a near miss, caught a whopper. The staff weighed, cleaned, filleted and seasoned the fish and placed it straight into the smoker. 15 mins later we were eating the tastiest, most delicious salmon ever. My wife couldn't eat all of her fillet and ate the rest that night. Great fun fishing, then the best meal to follow - hard to beat and well worth the visit if you're up this way.
