We had a great visit to the reef with a very friendly crew. Around 25 people on the trip. They took good care of us and we had the fabulous experience of swimming with turtles. Very good value for the money and a very different experience to Port Douglas etc. Enjoyed the Cape Trib experience and this was the best event.

We had a fantastic time snorkelling on the reef. The boat ride was great on its own but the reef is beautiful. We were only a small group, less than 25 people and this made it very quiet in the water and visibility was great. We went in January and the water was warm, the weather sunny and the sea flat - what more could you ask for! Cam was knowledgable about the reef and local area and helped those in the group who had not snorkelled before find their confidence. He joined us in the water and pointed out the wildlife on the reef to anyone who wanted the tour or you could happily swim around knowing that Jason was keeping an eye on you from the boat.A fantastic afternoon on the reef!

Awesome experience, swimming with turtles, beautiful coral, colourful fish and the guys from Ocean Safari are really knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Loved it!

Snorkeling with Ocean Safari was a great experience. The short boat ride and relatively small size of the snorkeling group made the trip all about the snorkeling and the reef, not dealing with crowds. Other reviews detail all that you can see--and it is amazing. We were very impressed with the knowledge that the crew has of the marine life and the reef. The complete and utter respect they have for the reef and the need to keep it as free from human contamination as possible is inspiring. But we never felt that we were being lectured-- instead we had a wonderful opportunity to learn about a unique part of the world that we had never seen. The crew made us feel comfortable--they were fun and wanted us to have the best time possible. We were there in June, so the water was not warm. It was bearable with wetsuits, but we could not stay in the water for as long as we would have liked. Two of us were freezing after snorkeling. The crew was super considerate, taking the cold people to the warmest spot on the boat and even lending my daughter an extra long sleeved shirt. Two suggestions--take them seriously when they say to bring a sweatshirt! Also--bring a towel or two for each snorkeler.

Nothing is better than swimming with sea turtles along the Great Barrier Reef in one of the oldest rainforest in the world! The staff are especially friendly and very knowledgeable. I've been on Ocean Safari twice and I am not a great swimmer. There were a few times where I would get water in my mask and struggled to swim. Cam, Jason and Ollie were always there to help me as I made myself more comfortable in the big blue sea. They always made sure everyone felt safe and that we were all having a good time. The water was crystal blue and there were countless beautiful fish and colorful live coral. I witnessed giant clams open and close, sea cucumbers, starfish and the list goes on! It really felt like a whole new world under the sea, and for once, I felt like a real mermaid :) What an unforgettable experience. Thank you Ocean Safari Team! Always an adventure!

Over the years we have tried quite a few of the reef tours out of Port Douglas - from now on though, it is ocean safari all the way. While it is a 1 1/2 hour drive up to Cape Trib/Daintree (which you should def do anyway) it is a fast 25 minutes out to the reef and the most spectacular snorkelling we have ever experienced. The first stop was crystal clear water and lazy sea turtles wondering what all the fuss was about. The second spot was deeper water with clown fish and clams galore. Spent more time in the water than some of the full day tours! Cam and Jason were perfect guides - especially for the non-swimmer we had in our group. To cap off a perfect day we were lucky enough to see some dolphins on the trip back. Great equipment and handy that you can BYO snacks and drinks - or have some cash for $3 drinks and chocolate bars. Back by 12:30 for a burger at turtle cafe and then an explore around the rainforest. Paradise.

Me, my hubby, two young children (5 & 9yrs old) and their grandpa recently took a trip to the Great Barrier Reef with Oceans Safari in Cape Tribulation. It was a fabulous experience and I can't recommend it enough. Cape Tribulation is the closest point to the reef so it only takes 25 mins to get out to the reef as opposed to 1.5 - 3hr from Port Douglas and Cairns. By going to the reef with Oceans Safari from Cape Tribulation, you get the same sort of time snorkelling on the reef but less travelling time...and the travelling part is awesome....small speedy rigid inflatable power boat that is quite a thrilling ride out in itself! Even the process of boarding straight from the beach as opposed to a marina makes this tour special! And the views of the Daintree coastline as you speed away from it towards the reef are stunning and not to be missed. The boat only takes a maximum of 25 so this tour has a very intimate and personalized feel to it and Ocean Safari are the only operator that have a permit for Mackay & Undine (?) reefs so you get pristine and well cared for reef all to yourselves and don't have to share with the hoardes.....The staff (Kain & Cam) are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the reef and always there to give guidance and point the good stuff out (as well as inform you how to enjoy it without damaging it which is what I consider good eco-tourism). We saw colourful coral, giant clams, rainbow fish, nemo, cleaner wrasse, blue starfish, sting rays, and turtles and heaps of other stuff....Kane (who was on the boat) said he could hear my 9 year old excitedly screaming "turtle", "starfish", "nemo" through his snorkel whilst his head was underwater!! I was a bit worried how my kids would go...they can both swim but are not the strongest of swimmers but I had no need to worry..they were given noodles so they could float around and the guides even towed them around a bit! By the end of the trip they were both diving down to chase turtles and nemo fish and had abandoned their noodles to the parents!!I have been diving & snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef from Townsville, Cairns and Cape Tribulation and my favourite by far was from Cape Tribulation. If you are planning a trip to the reef (or have already been out elsewhere on one of the bigger boats) I would encourage you to try Oceans Safari...it's a different experience. One piece of advice though...book ahead as this tour does seem to fill up due to the small tour size and plan to spend a night or two in Cape Tribulation to enjoy the area. Thanks to the Oceans Safari crew (Kain & Cam on the boat and the wonderful Kelly who dealt with our booking) - our family trip to the reef was awesome.

Absolutely beautiful tour!We were taken to two different spots in the reef which were just perfect. These guys are the only ones that offer this tour so there was just a small group of us who had this part of the reef to ourselves. It was unforgettably breathtaking. Cam and Kane definitely know their stuff which helps you feel safe and confident out in the middle of the ocean (considering i am not a strong swimmer) this was comforting and i was able to enjoy this experience to the full potential. I definitely plan to do it again :)

I’ve just returned to Sydney after spending three unforgettable days in the breathtaking Cape Tribulation, and what an amazing adventure it was! We booked the Ocean Safari tour and the wonderful thing about this tour is that they are the only company that go to this specific area of the reef and they only take small groups, meaning we had the reef completely to ourselves. We were a group of 7 girls, every one of us were in absolute awe of this amazing place and couldn’t stop smiling from the moment we got on the boat. Our guides Kaine and Cam were so much fun, they had a wealth of knowledge and their passion inspired and excited us. The panoramic views from the boat were magnificent and the crystal clear water meant that we could easily spot turtles, sharks, sting rays and the diverse vibrantly coloured fish which inhabit the reef. We could not have asked for a better tour, thanks Kaine and Cam you were absolutely awesome guides! The people and the tours in Cape Tribulation make coming to this place unforgettable, there is a real sense of community and the people went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful time which we are so grateful for. We are definitely looking forward to our next trip up there. Thank for everythingSteph :) 

Ocean Safari is an amazing way to see the reef in Far North Queensland. The adventure takes approximately 25 people on a purpose built powered craft out to Mackay & Undine Reefs for a half day snorkelling or dive experience on pristine outer reef.Definitely not to be missed !
