I knew that Ecuador had many active volcanoes, but it was awesome to see this one erupt with a big steam cloud right before our eyes. It was a full moon that night and so we were able to get some nice photographs of this erupting volcano. Very memorable to have seen an active volcano. When will it erupt with lava and fire?

Absolutely brilliant landscape, an active volcano is not something you see everyday and set in such stunning scenary makes it even better.

Finally, after many views on our tour, we were able to view the entire volcano and saw the snow-capped top in the hot season! Breathtaking! This volcano has been rather active from what our guide told us, perhaps spewing some steam every 3 or 4 months, and has had a devastating past in Banos. It was vividly visible from Patate and from Quito, but the views are often changeable in merely seconds, with mist rising and falling to cover the mountain.

I love the view of the mountains the restaurants and stores. It is a great place to visit. So much to do from A swing located at the top of the mountain to the stores and hotels at the bottom of the mountain. They have bungee jumping, canoeing, water rafting, fishing, zip lining.... Tips: I personally was fine with the shirt but some people had sweaters on and we're still commenting on how chilly it felt.

I saw pictures from internet and tried to find there. I went so far from another side of the world to be there. Its raining that day and not beautiful much as I expected but It's nice to be there and do it. I went by bus very cheap 1 usd and paid 1 usd for entrance fee. Spent and hour there and back again by same bus.

Swing at the End of the World is a must do. Will give all thrill seekers an adrenaline rush. The views to the valley below lends to some great vacation photos.

I really enjoyed staying in Banos and seeing the volcano from the town, from the evacuation bridge and from the edge of the mountain. Unfortunately it was quite cloudy on the other days we were there, but when we saw it the view was spectacular. It wasn't smoking at the time but still incredible. The whole area surrounding Tungurahua and Banos is not to be missed if you travel to Ecuador. I wish we had had more time and I know I will go back to Banos!

We viewed the volcano coming towards Banos, puffing away, then way up high in two places. Our favorite was hiking over the evacuation bridge (yes, that is why the bridge was built at great expense) and up the little traveled road with great views down into the Pastaza river basin, then as you climb up, take the dirt track that leads to an eco Lodge and views of Tungurahua. The new lodge will serve you a Pilsner, and nice owner will show you around on trails. Kind of relieved to depart for Cuenca without experiencing an eruption of that huge volcano.

Not for the faint hearted. This 2-3hr climb was very steep and very soft. Pod only recommend it to experienced altitude hikers and I'm talking volcanos and mountains not Sunday strolls. The views were great although the clouds rolled in while we were there and we found it difficult to see. It was an accomplishment though. We mountain biked down which was quite fun.

Easiest is to start at the bus station, cross the road and walk over the San francisco bridge. Have a quick bungee jump on the way if you like. The walk up the track for 10 mins or so. Admire the superb views down the river valley and across the town. Look back for a good view of the volcano smoking up to the sky. It is often hidden in cloud. I had my best view from late afternoon. Next morning, although a fine day, the volcano had its own cloud cover. But the views made the walk worthwhile.

Tungurahua, on a clear day, is one of the best views I've seen yet in Ecuador. As we were hiking it was cloudy, but luckily by time we got to our viewpoint the clouds had cleared and we had a perfect of view of the peak, pumping out huge clouds of orange smoke from the top. We took the hiking trails from the town, near the hospital, to Villavista (the big cross on top of the mountain that lights up at night). The hike up took about 3 hours, and it was all incline! However, once we got to the top and were able to see the view of the volcano, all was worth it. We sat and peered at the amber smoke rising from the top for about an hour. Whether you hike, or take a taxi up to your viewpoint, its well worth it on a clear day!

Tungurahua can give you some awesome views when the weather is nice. And if possible and if you are sportive maybe you can climb the volcano !

We rode one of the colorful open buses up a mountain in the dark while club lights flashed and dance mix music blared. It was great. At the top we could not see Tungurahua because of clouds but there was food vendors, souvenirs, and a comedy fire eating show that we enjoyed immensely even though we don't speak Spanish.

The Tngurahua is a sight in Banos that you cannot miss. This is an active volcano but we did not see it erupt. It is called the black giant and see it magic from anywhere. You can see it anywhere whether in a shop or an outdoor resturant. I only wish that we could have seen it while erupting.
