What amazing views... You will be rewarded by some of the most amazing views of barra and Sao Conrado if:- You can complete the hike. It's roughly 3 hours of VERY hard hiking... Repeat all uphill and very tiring.. Don't do this if you are not somewhat healthy and athletic.- If you can make the rock climb, it's not hard but you must have courage and some level of athletic ability and dexterity. Somewhat of a Vertical climb with lots of hand holds for about 10m upwards. I went without safety ropes and it was ok. Just be prepared to be scared going up unless you rock climb all the time.- Bring enough water, it's so hot and you will sweat like crazy. Be prepared to keep hydrated...- There are no signs to get here, so the best Reference is go to the new Swiss school and take the first right after the school into the condominium of homes, just keep on driving and about 5 minutes after the Swiss school you will arrive at the park entrance.I highly recommend for those Athletic folks who wamy a great view..

The hiking is not easy. you take from 2 to 2:30 hours. And there's a part you will have to climb on to get there, but no need for any climbing accessories, just courage. If you pass that, you will be rewarded with an amazing and unforgettable view of Rio! Totally worth it!

Climbing only to be done by a climbing expert, do not beleave some misleading comments saying that is easy, did it with out chaine, in less than 2H bla bla bla....Too hard, very thechnique, too risky if you never klimber a montain, need at least 4 Hours, 2L water, and tho find the entrance is not very easy nevertheless you have a guide. Now you now it !

You can admire this from ground of sky. In both ways the views are beautiful. This is place where the hang gliding and paragliding give their show. They land in a very beautiful beach called Praia do Pepino (or Cucumber beach) and you can spend hours in the beach watching their show. Or you can be brave enough to by a double flight with a instruction and jump from there to the beauty of Rio from above. In any case, this will be an experience of a lifetime. Guranteed !

You can drive yourself or take a cab ( be sure of hiring a round trip)Astonishing view and if you are brave enough, you can manage to hand gliding with an instructor. my daughter did it and loved it!Good entertainement and the views are astonishing

So, so beautiful! The best view in Rio de Janeiro! But be careful as there is a really dangrous part there - scary climbing. Better to go with a guide (who has a rope). I went with a "free" tour which was not good (the guide unfortunately didn't help us and just left us behind). Go with a good guide! Take water and food!Overall great experience! Must see!

I hiked the Gavea´s Rock more than 20 times. There is a small climbing up there called "Executioner", but you can handle it with attention and without ropes. I recommend a guide for tourists, but despite that, the view upthere is amazing.

I'm a fairly seasoned hiker (29 years old, decent shape, have hiked a fair amount). I went during the hottest part of the year and this was definitely a challenging hike (an 8 out of 10 on the difficulty scale for a day hike). We took a cab to the trail head (google: Inicio da trilha da Pedra da Gávea) and went from there. I would suggest that you bring a minimum of 3L of water per person. I am a heavy sweater and lost a lot of fluid throughout the hike. It's a very steep upward hike for the first two hours. After that, be prepared for a very VERY steep rock scramble. I have done several rock scrambles in the past, and consider this less of a scramble and more of an climb upward at a straight up vertical ascent. I did not see where there were that many hand guards to assist in the rock climbing. It was very hot and slippery and several people were unable to do this part. The hike down also took forever. It's definitely a great experience, but I would caution that those who are not physically fit may not find this as rewarding as others.

Very hard to get there, only by Jeeps or walking in trails, but the view is something. Just like in the movies, when you finish a climbing, and see the world...

Awesome view after a little difficult trail (3 hours each way). I recommend using ropes on Carrasqueira area (20m climbing section).

There is pretty much it for this one unless you are some kind of a climber. Rio is full of peaks and just letting them all in as you strolling around wherever is the key.

It was harder that i'd expected but I never regretted I'd decided to climb it. Yes! There is one section about 12 metres high where you really need to climb up. A tourist fell down and died on going down this section a week ago. So, it is not easy and safe stuff. But once you are on top... Views are stunning and the concept of walking in the clouds is so cool. Remember to take lots of water, some food, a hat/cap/helmet/whatever to cover your head. Guides are for helpless and sissy ones but going alone is not a good idea.

I downloaded a GPS track of this hike from the Internet in advance to know where to start, etc. We started walking at 8am from Ponte Velha, where the bus left us. Twenty minutes later we were at the park entrance. After 50 minutes we reached the water point, and 30 minutes later we were at the charrasqueira, the most difficult part. Ropes are not really needed here but coming down they would be make the descent easier. From here it takes only 30 minutes to get to the highest point. I would recommend to bring at least two liters of water. The views from the top are amazing and really worth it. We saw three paraglider guys taking off from the top. I am 64 years old and my nephew is 33. Highly recommended for any active people.

This is a strenuous hike, but very rewarding. Be prepared for one section that actually requires some scrambling. It can be a little nerve-wracking for the unprepared. It is not a technical climb, but can be strenuous.
