A very good trip with TurisTour which included the Domeyko Mountains named after a Polish surveyor, Yerbas Buenos with ancient rock art ( petroglyphs), Rainbow Valley & finally the very small village of Rio Grande with their terrace farming. Throughout the trip you have great vistas & climbing the rock to see the petroglyphs was interesting and fun. As you cross Matancilla which is green due to the river and actually has trees - you enter Rainbow valley -stunning. The various colours of the rocka are due to the composition of the minerals - we stayed about an hour and the camera was on click overdrive. We also saw vicuna & llama which was an added bonus. Finally what made the trip so great was that we were only six -" Totti " our Argentinian guide was fantastic as she kept up a running steam of information, switching from Spanish to English without skipping a beat.We also had a delightful Chilean family onboard -a great morning out.We saw nobody else on our trip -just us & the landscape.

Absolutely stunning! The mountains/hills in The Rainbow Valley range from purple, green, and blue in colour. You can also find various rocks, minerals, and crystals on the ground as you trek across this vast picturesque valley of rocks and minerals.

Once there you will see that a mountain can be made of so many different types of rocks that it can go from green to purple, all in one place. To get there you will drive on the desert and suddenly get into a oasis type of area, see a bunch of wild life and then the surprising colorful mountains. I loved it.

Only half of the tour when we saw the petroglyphs was good. The place that they call as "Valle Arcoirs" looked like a bunch of tailings piles of abandoned mine. Just go if you don´t have anything else to do!

Ok tour but if you have to choose, go for the geysers or Valle de la Luna, way more impressive! If you end up going, don´t expect the photoshopped colors they sell you :)

It's totally easy to reach by car during summer! The road until the entrance is made of asphalt! In the unpaved road there are some small rivers to cross, but we did it easily. Go through the little roads to discover the colorful mountains! It's one of the most amazing landscapes in this town!

Spectacular geological formation. Very colorful and visually entertaining. The ride to the location is another matter. Lots of rough road and bouncing around in the tour bus. Guys, bring your athletic supporter for the bus ride!!

This was the last site we visited during the 3 weeks we spent in chili. We discovered amazing landscapes, great colors from red to green white and brown, simply magic. We went there with a rental car (standard, no 4x4) and could access the place quite easily even if the end of the road is quite damaged. To go there, drive from SPA to calama and turn right in the road to rio grande. Follow the road about 25km than after passing the tourism building, turn left before the bridge, this is where the journey starts!

The guides say that this is not yet a very popular spot because is not yet listed in many of the published guides. It has such name because here the mountains get different colors because of a substance name 'anfibo' that has a greenish color. The reach this spot you can also see the petrogliphs on the way. Maybe you can see lhamas, sheep and other animals aldo.

An array of multicolour layers forming the most amazing mountains. We spent the morning in a small group admiring this area. Just spectacular and still at only 3000 mts above sea level, ideal for someone who does not want to go to the higher altitude excursions in the area.Sorry but I don't have any negavites in regards to this visit.

I hesitate to tell you how beautiful this place is, because it is not at all yet protected in any way. When you visit, please leave it as you found it and refrain from taking any more rocks away! The variety and contrast of colors in the rocks and formations (leading into) this spectacular valley are surprising. After visiting tens of times with different geologists I learn more every time - this place is unique in the world! Not only its beauty is striking because of the constrasting colors and crazy shapes, but the fact that here there are ancient rocks formed deep inside the earth that we usually never even see on the earth´s surface, plutonic and hypabyssal beauties, makes it even more fascinating. Despite the fact that you will find extremely few guides who actually really DO understand its formation and provenance, it is a fabulous quiet and awe inspiring tour. An hour and a half drive from Sn Pedro. Combines easily with a wealth of other less visited sites (Rio Grande, Yerbas Buenas, Matancilla). Most tours will also take you for a quick stop at the Yerbas Buenas petroglyphs (ancient graffiti on ignimbrite blobs) in a huge landscape between deep canyons. Then you will drive into the Matancilla valley, soothing green and water trickling through a beautiful valley. I recommend taking your time in the ArcoIris valleys, rather than jamming in the petropglyphs, which really deserve your full attention on another separate excursion if you have the time (and a really good guide to give you teh low-down), Absolutely worth while. Remember, please help us keep it intact !

Do not miss this tour: you will be amazed with the colors of the mountains due to different minerals that compose these. Views are spectacular

We had a great time in there, the colours of the rocks was beautiful, and the class we had with our guide was incredible! You can see the Inca Road from there. Worth a visit for sure

I stopped here after visiting petroglyphs in the area. I don't think it is worth going out of your way to see this. The rock formations and colors are nice, but not exceptional.

This was one of the excursions arranged through our hotel and if you get the chance make sure you visit. The drive along leading to the valley was pretty impressive but the actual valley is something else. The range of colours is absolutely fantastic. Additionally there are lots of "sculptures" resulting from wind erosion and water, when there is some. We had 4 different excursions during our visit and this was one of the best.
