st. nicolas wooden church

If you want to feel real local Ukrainian Orthodox atmosphere - you need to be here exactly. Worm, friendliness, quiet and harmony history place. It was constructed in 1746 in Old Vinnytsya Town in Ukrainian folk manner. Constructors used People called it "the Cossacks' Church". The same place is historical, where the first Orthodox Chapel was erected in 13th cent by two Kievan-Pechersk Lavra monks. There is old mediaeval Icon of St. Nicholas, which was created in 16th century. In 1910 it was visited by the last Russian Empire Emperor Nicholas II. In Soviet Union times in th e church was organized local lore museum. Visited this place several times when different seasons of the year. Very easy to find this object - just behind the city council on another bank of Bug River (15-20 min by walk). PS. It has not any relation to medicine doctor's Nichoals Pirogov mausoleum. There is another little church in Vinnytsya, where is Porogov's embalmed body.

Its a pretty little church. Nothing special other than it is made of wood! It is directly over the top of the masoleum of Pirogov.

Церковь, как для Винницы уникальная - древнее нет. А ее состояние желает лучшего. В советские времена в ней сотворили музей народного прикладного искусства и под эту "шарманку" провели реставрацию. Затем в 90-х церковь вернули прихожанам и это правильно. Но где забота прихожан о древнейшей церкви Винницы?

Очень интересная церковь расположенная в одном из самых живописных мест города. В советское время в этой церкви снимались сцены фильма "Иванна"
