Generally nice and unspoilt, lots of small streets to wander through and interesting souvenir shops that sell varied things, for example a shop selling very nice high end jewellery. Also a market that sells the same tourist souvenirs as every other town on the islands so there should be something for every tourist's taste... Nice parks to sit and eat lunch whilst being harassed by many many wasps.... Not so many tourists crowding up the place and I felt like even though it was a smaller town it felt more authentic than Krk or Vrbnik for example. I also felt that the locals had time to talk to us as tourists and did not want to just extract money out of us which I have felt in some other cities I have been to. Would have liked to have spent longer exploring the island itself but feel that the 2 days we spent in Rab town itself was enough time to see everything. Few more people speaking English here than in Krk although as always a few words of the local language was much appreciated eg danke danke, bella bella... We had a nice few hours on one of the beaches having fun with a lido. Prices in shops and restaurants very reasonable, you should check out Ristaurant Ana although I feel it is over-rated a bit and service was poor although food pretty fine. Girlfriend felt the sun on her skin and got a slight suntan. Experienced exquisite morning storms. I felt accommodation price generally was quite high although I appreciate there is high demand in August peak time....Overall not a bad time. Oh and the tower itself was not bad although the opening times are approximate. The steps are very steep and not suitable for infirm or elderly people.

This review isn't only about St. Christopher Tower but about Rab Town, the capital of Rab Island. I visited from Zadar on an independent day tour: I had to take a bus to Senj, then another bus to Rab Town that gets into a ferry to cross the narrow strait between Stinica to Misnjak, the harbor in the south of the island. Reb Town is a lovely seaside town full of medieval and Renaissance buildings well worth a visit. As you walk along its narrow silent streets you have glimpses of the ever present blue Adriatic. The Tower of St. Christofer offers wonderful views over the town, the sea and a leafy nearby park. There are many small restaurants, coffee-shops and a wide range of accommodation possibilities. Sea sports are available in Rab Town, as well as tours throughout the island. I visited on October 1st., so the season was over, but I found all the attractions open and it was warm enough for a swim.Tips: If you have your own wheels, remember you have to get into the ferry for Rab Island at the new jetty at Stinica, not at the old one at Jablanac; if you travel with public transportation, find out which bus will reach Senj at the right time to connect with the bus to Rab Town, not just to the harbor in Misnjak, because there is no public transportation from Misnjak to Rab Town and they are several Km. away.

The sights on Rab tend to close after the first week in September and i needed to get the tower opened up. Best view of the town and the area. There are 4 towers. The other three were locked with no way to get someone to get it opened. In September, the tower was uncrowded. I could imagine a bunch of people trekking up the stairs could make for a discomforting scene in the summer.
