just travel to this beautiful island with a lost in time chora and beautiful secret inner houses. the narrow roads and old historic monastiri. the faith is in the air and learn the history of the place. Best night life, good restaurant and shops. Must visit the monastiri - dress properly.

Chora hasnt got that much to do, Skala the port town has the majority of tourist attractions, however, chora holds all of the beauty. Amazing winding streets and alleyways, white wash houses and beautiful buildings, chora is lovely just for a stroll through and to take some lovely pics. Some nice restaurants too x

It is a must to do a walk through Chora. Declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site.Beautiful white houses. Narrow alleys, like a maze.Discover amazing places and make wonderful pictures.

If you do your homework and rent a lodging here, either in a dhomatia apartment or in a house, a peak travel experience awaits, virtually guaranteed to be a highlight of all your lifetime travels. Book during Easter, a special time to be up here OR deliberately avoid the crowds as we did and try for a shoulder season, full moon time. A magic that a name would stain. I am done. The end.PS Try to get the instrumental piece 'Patmos' by acoustic guitarist Don Ross off his CD 'Bearing Straight'. This oh-so evocative masterpiece captures the spiritual mystique of Chora perfectly. Genius.

Whenever I go to Patmos I try to walk to the small church of Agio Pnevma (Holy Spirit) in the late afternoon. If you are in Hora you will have to ask directions of how to go. You walk on a calm road, you meet very few or no people. The little church is closed. It is however very pretty and you can see the sun set in the sea, the colours are glorious. If you continue the road on your right you will pass more small churches, one in ruins. Further you have a view of the Monastery. Continuing on your right you will walk towards the town. One church is usually open. I light a candle and look at the ikons. Then you continuing you see some beautiful houses, and end up at the Town Hall.

Chora is so much more enticing than Skala. It is worth at least an afternoon or more to wander it's alleys. Make sure to eat at one of the restaurants with a view of the island, and don't miss the monastery.

We attended a wedding in the beautiful Greek Orthodox Church in Choral. What a gorgeous setting. Then a wonderful relaxed lunch in the main square with great food and entertainment.

A very atmospheric place, with magnificent old houses and little squares. Fortunately it has not been spoiled by too many shops and restaurants, so one can enjoy a lovely evening walk and meal.

The architecture is amazing, you have a feeling that you have travelled back in time!!! Not sure if it was the time of year that we visited it but the streets were empty and the houses seemed empty as well with no lights on... It gave the impression of a "ghost town". Totally recommend a visit and a drink in one if the beautiful bars, however we never found a taverna/ restaurant with even decent food :(

Cool, warren of streets and atmosphere. Didn't like the over commercialisation of religious elements

Nice fun architecture but not much to see. I would not recommend taking the time to come here. They didn't even have one good restaurant. The town was completely deserted except for the one street where all the tourist shops are.

Have been to several Greek Chora's and love them all. The old towns are just beautiful.....the arrow alleys, beautiful buildings, Greek people living Greek lives like they have for hundreds and hundreds of years. This one takes some exploring so give yourself time and get lost a little

We cruised into Patmos on Louis Cruises and signed up with a shore excursion. Chora was very nice and they do have amazing views of the sea and great architecture. We visited the Cave of the Apocalypse and St. John's Monastery. The view from the top of the mountain is very beautiful. A great place to take pictures from. See some pictures below.

When coming via cruises ship, try and take a Taxi up to the monastery (8 Euros). If you would like for the Taxi to stop at the cave of the apokalypse and monastery and wait for you, they're asking 30 euros per cab. We just took a Taxi up, went to the museum and walked around the cute, quiet and narrow streets of chora after. You can either walk all the way back down to the harbor, or call for another Taxi to take you back down. Much cheaper and you're not being herded.

I have liked the architecture, the narrow streets, the colour of the buildings, the amazing views to the sea.We have witneseed the moment when the bells were pulled. The museum is very interesting. The entrance fee is 4 Euro (including the museum). It is a well preserved place. From the port we took the taxi to the Monastery. It costs 6 Euro. We have bought holly oil that smelled heavenly. After visiting Chora you can get to Skala just following the stoned path.
