Spectacular views from the top and even better in the winter when it is covered in several feet of snow. It is almost essential to have 4 wheel drive and it may even require the use of snow chains, but well worth it. In the summer it can get quite busy up on the mountain but it is still worth the drive up just to get views across the whole of the island.

So fantastic - it is a long way up there - but well worth the effort - even if you only do it once, Take some warm clothing as it can be so cold - worth a visit

It's a steep drive of about 11kms but well worth it - amazing views from the top, with the south of the Island fanning out way below. Some good walks and paths, too, from here.

before the clouds come rolling in ! Whether you drive up , which is quite an experience in certain places or brave the hike, you need to get up to the summit before it gets clouded out. Fortunately we were just in time and got some great shots and then some dramatic views as the clouds did start to roll in. Do take trainers if you are driving and will leave the car to explore some of the paths, which is worthwhile.Fabulous views of most of the island.

6.5 km well marked path from Digaleto village to the summit of Mt Enos 1.628m. The overall elevation is 1180 m. Took 2h 30m to scale the mt. Stunning 360 view from the summit. As mentioned above the path is very densely marked with yellow markings. The path scales up through the beautiful Cephalonitic fir forest. There is a summit log on the summit.

A bit to drive up, and the quality of the road varies... The best part is probarly after entering the national park. When you com to the telephone station (I think it is...), where the road shifts to gravel road, you can park your car and start walking. Trainers is nice to have if you want to the top, but I have done it on sandals as well. Not that comfortable... And don't forget water. Follow this gravel road, first its flat, and then it starts to go down hill. You have nice view to several parts of the island between the trees, just depending on what way you look. After walking down the road for a little while, you will find a path up through a small forest. After this you can see the topp of Mount Ainos. Dont forget to sign the log book at the top. And take your time to admire the fantastic view!!! Been there twice, and only thing I regret, is not staying there longer... On way back it's a nice picnic area with benches and a playground for kids.

Not enough is said about this unbelievable sight on Kefalonia. Definitely a must do sight to take in. The drive is a bit long and I understand that this might put people off but please don't. IT IS AWESOME! You need to take the well maintained tarmac road. We came in via Saint Gerasimos church and you can stop here on the way back. As you climb further into the National Park of Mount Aenos/Ainos you can instantly feel the breath getting cooler and the air fresher. The pines trees are thick and lush and apparently there was a hospital at the top to aid people with breathing ailments as the air is so clean. Once you reach the top there is the large telephone station and at the time two nimble men were fixing massive round satellites with just a few ropes! The views from here are stunning. You get the full perspective of the island and its geography. If you walk to your left away from the huge phone masts there is another viewpoint that faces towards Zante/Zakynthos and the west of Kefalonia. Carry on down the path to the let of this and you can glimpse Lefkas and mainland Greece through the pine trees. You can also see the bays of Agia Efimia and Sami. You will also see and hear a few goats and their little bells.Once you leave there is a visitor centre but this is not well signposted. There is a gate across the road with a red sign that looks like it is no entry but this is the old converted hospital that I mentioned earlier. An eager tour guide called Constantinos was waiting to show us around and there was no one here as it has only opened recent and there is not enough advertising. Constaninos showed us to the top of the visitor centre where we had a breathtaking view of the whole of Kefalonia. You can clearly see Argostoli and Lixori peninsula from here as well as the beautiful bright blue Agean Sea that surrounds the Island. If you don't have enough time to visit many places around Kefalonia then just do Mount Aenos/Ainos as you will see everything from the top!

A really well looked after national park.Superb roads, great vistas( in between the massive pine trees ).Bit hazy when we got to the summit, and plagued with insects when we left the hire car.

This national park is beautiful. It has some stunning views. Take a cover up for when you get out of the car as it's chilly up there.

We took a drive up and wow what views! Worth a drive up if you hire a car we did it on a semi cloudy day so we had beautiful views and the magical atmosphere of being in clouds.

The views are just amazing. Not the easiest drive (if your passenger fusses about 5000 foot drops best to blindfold them) but so worth the long haul. There are lots of masts and telecommunication thingies but ignore those and walk along the ridge and experience the views across to Zakynthos and of the island. Go if it's hot because the temperature is 10 degrees cooler. Lovely!! No loos (but plenty of bushes) and no refreshments.

We drove to the the summit of the mountain from which the views were spectacular! Zanté was clearly visible.

Good well marked paths leading to superb views. The climb to the highest point is well worth the effort. I recommend that you wear sensible shoes.

Well worth the trek to the top of Kefalonia's highest mountain. The views are wonderful but it is up in the clouds and sometimes a bit cloudy. It is also part of a bit of a national park, but we have never explored this.
