Very interesting display and very good value - especially if you are a senior! It is an interesting and easy walk from the Viking museum and easily reached by bus from the city centre

Of all the museums here abouts this is worth missing its ok if in combination with something else. But if like me you are left scratching your head by the whole thing , it proved that travel across oceans on a reed boat was and is possible. Ok.The motion picture film was ok too.

This is a real life story of adventure. In my opinion an underrated part of history where a wildcard proves an ocean crossing is possible. No real negatives other than I guess that its on the museum island that it a bit far from the centre but its still on ly 30 minutes away.

This museum is located right next to the Polar Fram Ship Museum and not far from the Viking ships, so it is not out of the way or time consuming to get to. If you are interested in the Kontiki and Ra expeditions, it is fascinating and holds replicas of the boats. I did find the setup of the museum difficult to navigate- wasn't sure which way to go and found I read stuff out of order.

I would recommend to visit all the museums in this area, and this is the most curious of them. You can find the raft and the boat in their original size: very beautiful to see! There are some statues representative of the Easter Island ones, and they're interesting as well.

This museum is really well laid out to help you follow the story round, and it's a fascinating story as well! The models are amazing too.

Every child learns of this expedition at school but somehow the museum failed to bring the excitement and drama to life.

Lovely museum and it explained the Kon Tiki, Ra I and Ra II expeds well. A bit confusing to get around (still working on parts of it), but if you have an Oslo Pass you must tick it off your list- you are on museum island anyway!

Its a nice small museum. Do your self a favour and read/reread one of Thor Heyerdahl books about the expedition and you will double your experinece

The museum has two boats - the original Kontiki plus one of the Ra reed boats from Egypt. Fascinating learning about the journey, and it's organisation. I can remember the Ra expedition from my time at school.Real exploring shown on all the information boards, and plan on about 45 minutes to an hours stay.We used the Oslo Pass which also allowed us to catch the 30 bus from the Info Centre stopping outside the Museum, which is close to the terminus and the MS Fram museum. The bus passes the Viking Ship museum en route and you can hop on and off with the Oslo Pass.

Little bit out of the way but worth it when you get there. The displays are informative but not overloaded with facts so the children get something from it without being board. The two rafts themselves are very good and the display of Kon-Tiki with the shark below really impressed out children.

Kon-Tiki Museum it is a interesting history of Kon-Tiki that was the raft used by Norwegian explorer and writer Thor Heyerdahl. It is close to Fram Museum. A polar museum dedicated to the story of Norwegian polar expeditions with the Fram ship used by Fridtjof Nansen as the main exhibit.Use an OSLO Pass for transportation and museum accesses

I had read Kontiki in High School and it was really fun to see the actual boat, as well as the Ra! his Oscar he won is on display as well and is the only Oscar in Norway. Who know that Thor couldn't swim! Fun museum - small and it makes me want to go and watch the movie again!!

This museum is interesting for everybody. As an inhabitant of Oslo myself, I`ve been there several times - with children and youngsters. If you combine it with a boat trip from the center of Oslo on a not too chilly day - it`s perfect! To follow all Thor Heyerdahls preparations, findings and adventures, and his fight for peace and environment issues, is something very valuable to experience. It makes you reflect on several imprortant issues and time passes quickly in this interactive museum.
