I visited Krivoklat castle today, and I didn't see where to buy tickets and the last tour runs an hour before the castle closes, which this time of year is 15:00, so last tour was just after I got there. The tour guide said the tour was also over full, there must have been 40 people in that last tour.Even without the tour of the castle, it was a great trip, the area is a real draw, if you like to visit nature and quiet villages. It seemed like everyone had left for the weekend, which made it even more quaint. There is a man mixing up hot wine drinks that smell and taste fantastic, definitely worth the ~30 CZK. And there is a little wood shop and glass shop selling trinkets that are nice. If you drive and don't like walking up a hill for about 1km, park at the top of the hill near the gas station and restaurant.I came in by train, if you do that, check the schedules. I took the train from Praha hl.n. to Baroun and the connecting train was removed from the schedule, so I was in Baroun for an hour waiting for the next train. That lead to my exploring Baroun, which is a nice little town and they were doing some kind of town market in the market square, with booths set up selling wares and foods. There was also live music being performed. I definitely didn't mind spending an hour there.Similarly the 15:00 train was also removed from the schedule, without notice and I was sitting at the train station for another hour. I could have done without that wait, I should have stayed in the restaurant in town, rather than hurrying to catch a non-existent train. That said the train only cost 200 CZK for the round trip. The restaurants in town serve local Czech food, and it's done quick and tasty. Served with a nice beer and it's a good place to just relax. Sit on the patio and listen to so much quiet.Krivoklat isn't a big castle, so have the right expectations when going and you should have a good time for a few hours.

The entire city is like something from the middle ages. Really enjoyable city to stroll around, relax and maybe have a beer or two at one of the bars.

Everything, the castle, country site, guides, the only thing I didn't like is parking, very limited and long walk to the castle.

the castle is worth seeing in better season: it has been too cold today. Still the way there / from Prague is very picturesque and the road is good. Beautiful views from the castle

This castle is definitely worth a visit. It is less well known and smaller than some of the others but has as much history and probably more charm. We took the guided tour and it was worth it. Although the tour was not in english we were given a detailed sheet and keepsake map/folder, so the tour was easy to follow. The guide spoke excellent english so was able to answer any questions we had as well.We had been on tours of other castles and but I found with this one we got to see a lot more of the actual castle. Well worth a visit if you are able to get out of Prague for a day. It was a lovely easy drive to it as well.

We visited Krivoklat in winter during Christmas period a were amazed by the atmosphere and coziness of this place. Less than 2 hours by train from Prague we tound a quiet place to spend the day. The castle hosted a few film-maker crew and served as the venue of q few Czech films and fairy tales. The guide took us back in time and enjoyed the tour. We were lucky to be there during a sunny day so did a small walk in the forest near the castle where you can find very nice sight with beautiful view of the castle. Definitely recommed to visit this place, although I can imagine it can get crowded in summer.

maybe this is the best castle we have visited during our holiday in Czech Republic. It is a concentrate of beauty and history, with a beautiful court and great view from the walls!

We came during the winter when it was snowing. Grand Krivoklat Castle has a beautiful entrance and seeing the balcony upon entering the courtyard remind me of a scene from Romeo and Juliet. It's a small castle but still unique.

This is a nice small castle less than an hour away from Prague. Compared to Karlstejn, it's much quieter around here and you have more time to take in the atmosphere of the castle. And the local restaurant serves tradiitional food.

Castle itself interesting. On the courtyard there was beer festival with traditional jazz music. You can find many shops with souvenirs or refreshment. We used the paid parking place a(50.-CZK/day)above the castle (next to the restaurant, WC).

Fabulous views into the 16th and 19th centuries; a great contrast from the castles of England. Fabulous ancient chapel, and more recent collections of furniture, shooting kit, etc.

This castle is in very good condition and it has some nice amenities, like bow and arrow rental, and a birds of pray show. Perfect if you're looking for something to do for one day outside of Prague. I would recommend stopping in Beroun for a burger at Black Dog Cantina on the way there.

We took a day trip to Krivoklat on a Sunday late in June 2013. It was 377 kc round-trip for two for the fare from Hlavní Nádraží. Note: make sure you take the fast train. We took the local train and it made about 6 stops on the way to Beroun, where you have to take another train to Krivoklat. We defininitely should have paid more attention there. The small town around the castle is picturesque and idyllic, to say the least. It was 190 kc each to see the "full castle tour". The tour itself is in Czech but they give you a printed paper to follow along. However, the printed notes do not cover the entire tour, so we were just guessing about 3/4 way through. I do still recommend the tour though since you have access to areas of the castle that the public cannot see.The courtyard of the castle is filled with small shops that sell local handicrafts, and a small cafe. It was a weekend, so I fully expected to see people dressed in medieval outfits doing things, but alas, just an old dude charging 60 kc to shoot a crossbow. Maybe the talent was on strike?All-in-all, a great country respite from Praha, especially if you're staying for a while. Pro-tip: take the small path up the hill into the little village to check out a beautiful old church, and stay right on your way back down to get the best view of the castle.

This castle is in very good condition and also has the workers in period dress, they will be making coins, jewelry and sell them at fair prices. Also have Crossbow lessons for the kiddies or young at heart. You can take a guided tour or you can stroll the grounds yourself. Not super busy so it's a nice change from Prague. On a nice day you can see for miles atop one of the walls or towers. The living history of this place makes it a good visit if you have kids.

I recommend visiting this beautiful castle along with Karlstejn castle. Krivoklat is in beautiful place called Krivoklatsko which is naturally protected area. Krivoklat has nice squere where you can often see medieval markets. Tour of the castle is also interesting which including visit ofbild torture chamber. Have a nice trip and visit Krivoklat.
