Thomas Mann spent his summers writing in this beautiful little town on the Curonian Spit. There was a German Artist Colony there and it was a pleasant environment for the Noble Prize Winner to write. One of his amazing novels is The Magic Mountain. I actually sat in Thomas Mann's study and looking out at the view understood how his creative juices flowed. Of course, his wealthy wife helped to fund their wonderful lifestyle.

The world-famous German writer Thomas Mann had built a summer house in Nidden on the Curonian spit with the money he got as Nobel prize. He spent just two summer seasons there from 1930 till 1932 and then emigrated from the Nazi-reigned Germany. After the war the Lithuanian culture and creative people rescued the house from destroying and made it to a multifunctional museum and culture center where now several activities like concerts, workshops, seminars etc. take place. It s located at the Curonian Bay with a marvellous sight high from the hill and inside of the house one can find an interesting exhibition about life and work of this genius Thomas Mann. A must-visit in Nidden!

For the Thomas Mann fans it's a place to visit, everybody else could skip this. A lot of information in german languege.

An interesting museum, Thomas Mann spent his summers here before the second World War. It was fascinating to note that he was stripped of his German nationality and doctorate by the Nazi authorities, but was granted an honorary doctorate by the University of Princeton. The information is in German which is understandable,but more information in English would have been much appreciated.

This is a cute house and some views, would like to retire here in the summer. Not much items in English.Other parts of Nida are excellent, pretty village and view from the dunes is spectacular.

It's a wooden house. A nice one, but nevertheless.There are three rooms with facsimiles, and there's one with a chair.The view is nice though.No need to go there unless you're a Mann-fan

Вся экспозиция заточена на посетителей из Германии, русский человек чувствует себя "лишним" в этом заведении - во-первых, все аннотации написаны на немецком или литовском ! (come on - at least English would be appropriate !!!), во-вторых толпы снующих пожилых немцев, в-третьих не "Ах ! Какая экспозиция !". Короче, дорогие соотечественники, нас здесь не ждут, посетите лучше дюны:))))

Ich muss zugeben, ich wusste bis jetzt sehr wenig über Thomas Mann. Klar, in der Schule liest man mal was aber da hat es bei mir auf aufgehört - bis jetzt! Das Museum, das sich in seinem alten Sommerhäuschen befindet, schildert seine Lebensgeschichte (und nicht nur den literarischen Aspekt) mit klarer Linie. Ich war überrascht, wie infomativ und nett alles gestaltet war. Nicht groß, aber eben auch nicht so erdrückend an Infomationen.Bin positiv überrascht von diesem schönen Ort. Besonders gute Idee: die alten Möbel gibt es wohl nicht mehr, allerdings sind diese durch interessante Metall-Möbel-Konstruktionen ersetzt worden; da wo früher die Orginale standen.Einziger Minuspunkt: Englische Übersetzungen wären gut, da natürlich nicht jeder, der das Museum besucht deutsch oder litauisch spricht.Günstiger Eintritt: Weniger als 3 Euro für 1 x Erwachsener und 1 x Student.

нужно либо знать труды Томаса Манна, либо немецкий/литовский языки. Иначе - суть музея не очень понятна))Но аутентичная старая постройка, аутентичная мебель - понравились.Хочу отдельно отметить скромность, как качество)))Ну а вообще Куршская коса достоприматми не блещет, так что в дождик можно и заглянуть бы, если бы цены на билеты были подемократичнее...

Das Sommerhaus von Thomas Mann wirkt in erster Linie durch sich selbst und seine Lage. Die Ausstellung ist schlicht, aber stimmig in die Wohnräume integriert. Perfekt wurde der Besuch durch ein Konzert zweier junger klassischer Akkordeonisten, das just diesen Abend bei offener Terrasse im Wohnzimmer stattfand - ein Hauskonzert wie einst vielleicht bei Manns.

海沿いに立つトーマス・マンの別荘。内部は当時のまま。別荘だからか、意外と質素で小さい。家族の写真が多数展示されている。

Ein wunderschöner Ort, man kann sich vorstellen, dass man hier produktiv sein kann, bei diesem Blick auf die NehrungDie Ausstellungsstücke sind rar, aber interessant, wer mehr will, muss das Mann-Haus in Lübeck besuchen, da gibt es tw. die gleichen Exponate.

Небольшой домик знаменитого немецкого писателя был построен почти век тому назад в стиле соседних рыбацких деревянных домишек Ниды и интересен только поклонникам литературы. Для вдумчивого посещения экспозиции необходимо знать литовский или немецкий языки.

Дорогие билеты, и экспозиция нулевая. На первом этаже открыты две комнаты и на втрои одна. В основном фото на стенах и отрывки из произведений, все на немецком и на литовском, нет даже английского перевода. Туда привозят группы немцев, да и только.

Понравилось, что утерянную мебель не стали заменять "новоделом", а воссоздали контуры, чем-то вроде белой проволоки, очень красивый вид из окна. Так как вся информация на немецком было не очень интересно, но мы и небольшие знатоки творчества.
