What a nice surprise!! I read about this church in TripAdvisor, I visited it and I didn't regret it. Situated in a part of the city of Turku that you almost do not have any other readon at all to visit, it stands as a marvelous architectural surprise. The entrance is free and at least during my visit I was offered a leaflet containing the history of the church.

Turku, or Abo, in Finland is famous for its riverside heritage cathedral. But a little walk inside the city from Kauppatori will bring you to this relatively new and beautiful church. It was designed by a famous architect, and was finished in 1905. Set on a high ground, which remains vibrant green during the summer, with its sky high spires and the red brick walls, the church reminds us of a fairytale setting. We lived across this church during our stay in Turku. It seemed like a very popular location for a wedding. Almost every weekend on the church grounds we saw people in their fineries, brides and grooms with their camera person. Inside, it is a very tastefully decorated church with designs on the windows in subdued colors. I specially liked what they did with the tree motifs. The service was peaceful and elegant. Do visit it on your trip to Turku.

Mikaelin kirkko, St. Michael´s of Turku is the 3rd tallest church in Finland. It combines a number of building styles with grace and the recently restored interior decorations are very beautiful.

This is a landmark in the beautiful city of Turku in S.W.Finland. The noble spire rises to a height of 77 meters, and is visible from afar. The church was designed by the architect Lars Sonck and was completed in 1905. The church is in neogothic style. The exterior is red brick, the steps, foundations and interior from Finnish stone and the roof is Norwegian slate. The church was restored in the 1980s. The organ was the main reason I visited St.Michael's. The instrument installed by the Kangasala organ company in 1965, was restored by Veikko Virtanen as part of the restoration project. However in later years this proved to be unreliable and a completely new 52 speaking stop instrument built by the Swedish firm of Anders Grönlund and designed by the present organist Marko Hakanpää, was inaugurated in October 2002. I was invited to give a lunch time summer concert in 2012. Never have I played such a magnificent instrument! St.Michael's is a popular church for weddings. The Saturday that I was there were 4 weddings in the afternoon. Do visit this church if you are in Turku. There are many concerts and activities. The church is an easy 15 minutes walk from the city centre if you fancy a stroll, and is also reached by bus.

Michael's Church is located on a hill in a charming part of Turku called Port Arthur or Portsa. It is said that this church is the one that the local people in Turku love most - it is, for example, a very popular church for weddings.The church was designed by a famous Finnish architect Lars Sonck, who is well known for his jugend or art nouveau style buildings, including Kultaranta, the summer residence of the President of Finland in Naantali and the cathedral in Tampere. The style of the church is neogothical from the outside - but once you step inside you may be surprised of the brighter jugend or art nouveau style of the interior of the building. Take time to have a closer look at all the symbolic details of the building that have been inspired by the Finnish wildlife.This church is open to visitors daily during the summer time. During the winter you can visit the church during or right after the service - the Evangelican-Luhteran service is held in Finnish every Sunday at 10. Every second Sunday of the month at noon the organ-player gives a presentation of the organ of the Michael's church. I found this fascinating - I was even allowed to try and play the organ and visit the inside of the instrument! If you happen to be in Turku at that time, I strongly recommend a visit to the church then!After a visit to the church, take a half an hour or so to stroll around the Portsa area to admire the old wooden houses.

Будучи в Турку, опять заглянули в Церковь Архангела Михаила. Внутреннее убранство достойно средневековой столицы Финляндии, которой был город Турку. Большой концертный орган, витражи. Рядом расположен небольшой парк со своеобразным памятником воинам.

Красивая церковь с совершенно необыкновенного вида витражами. На входе бесплатно дают литовку с историей церкви.Мы ушли под большим впечатлением.

На фоне всего остального города церковь, расположенная в центре Турку выглядит достаточно старинно. Очень красиво сделаны витражи и роспить на стенах. Внутри можно почитать про ее историю. Приятно, что все это поддерживается в отличном состоянии.

Очень светлая и радостная обстановка внутри. При входе внутрь такого совсем не ожидаешь. Необычная роспись стен.

Именно ради него следует в первую очередь посетить эту небольшую церковь в центре Турку. А во вторую - это очень красивая церковь. Для интересующихся - есть буклеты на разных языках, касающиеся истории церкви.

Находится в центре Турку, неподалёку от набережной Ауры. Особенность церкви - её витражи, очень красивые, но современные. Впрочем, ничего особо старинного в Турку просто нет. В церкви небольшая экспозиция, посвящённая её истории, в том числе и во время советско-финской и II мировой войны.
