Huge area to walk around, realised that many people pay to bring cars in after we had walked in and paid entrance fee. Please note there is a big saving to be made if you book on line before you go. Struggled for a while to find any animals - all seemed to be hiding !!! Its a long walk around for little legs but theres lots to look at. It was all kept really clean and tidy and staff were friendly and helpful. Would be better on a summers day but we enjoyed it anyway. Only downside is you have to pay to go on the train - which I didn't as felt we had paid enough entrance fee.

We visited with our two young children and had a great day! All the animals were out enjoying the sun in their very spacious enclosures and the children were enthralled with it all :) we particularly enjoyed the elephants, giraffes and penguins! The bird display was also very enjoyed. There is a good play area for the children and lots of seating for a picnic. Overall a lovely spacious zoo, with plenty to see and do, topped off with beautiful views.

Our visit to the park was excellent and we really enjoyed it! My children really liked all the attractions and there are plenty of advertisements for new ones too. We particularly liked the sound of the push car road track and we would definitely visit again for this!!!

We went on Sunday and though we are actually ZSL members, which means cheaper car parking inside the zoo and discounts for drinks/food and gifts, we cannot help but sympathise with people who surely paid a lot of money for tickets (and petrol...) just to find out that passage through Asia is closed until further notice due to recent weather conditions and the steam train was also out of service. They should make entry tickets cheaper if you are not able to get the full experience!! I am not sure why the sealion show is not on in March, but there were several talks (tigers, lemurs, rhino, hippo, giraffe..)We were lucky to see most of the animals (I thoroughly recommend the giraffes, the pygmy hippo and her baby & seeing the elephants going for a walk with their keepers was so worth it), though it is true that sometimes it feels as there are vast fields with no animals in them to be seen but I guess this is for the animals benefit and and on the other hand I felt as if the cheetahs could do with a lot more extra space, they look rather sad in their enclosure. I also think it would be more enjoyable to visit the zoo on a sunny or warmer day, especially if you car is parked outside as it is a big zoo and you might have to walk quite a bit (there are also free buses within the zoo), and you can also enjoy a picnic outside (lots of tables) but it will probably get busier too!!Children will definitely enjoy the farm and the huge outdoor playground too.

As a young family with a little child, a day out in a sunny spring day at the zoo seemed a good idea. We were actually surprised by the quality of this place. Not only there were plenty of fascinating animals and educators, as the wide space and quality of the facilities really makes this a place to visit on any sunny day. You don't feel the same spacial restrictions for the animals that common zoos have. Additionally the wide areas you have to walk make it almost senseless to take the car into the facilities. I would recommend to prepare to walk walks bit l, ask for a map at the ticket desk, and then pick up any area to start walking as you will find plenty of places to sit down and even have a coffee or meal. Will surelly come back in a few months time. There was much still to be seen.

Whipsnade is huge. A cross between a safari and zoo as it is spaced out, with plenty of countryside. The elephants were fantastic and playful, however the zebra viewing area wasn't up to much. I felt this and the giraffe enclosures could be better. The cafe facilities were also lacking. Two small, very spaced out cafes for such a huge place isn't enough. However, we still had a lovely day and it was great to see how much space the animals had.

Dissapointed after four of us going zoo at weekend that one of the lady volunteers was rather abrupt and rude, I did not expect this as I thought they would want to encourage visitors. It put me in an off mood I have to admit, would not recommend to anyone.

great day out, found it quite easily, the entrance price seemed a bit steep to begin with but once you got inside it was justified. Giraffes have one of the best enclosures and arrived just in time for the talk.Seeing the elephants going for their daily walk was spectacular totally out of this world. The cafes were very high priced 2 sandwiches drink and cake cost £17 for 2 people... Just wished I had brought my picnic. Other than that a great day out

Very expensive to visit to look at signs and empty fields and enclosures, the few animals we did see looked depressed and bored in terrible looking enclosures,be warned.felt cheated out of £20 per adult and £20 for vehicle if could have would have demanded full refund, expectations according to website and actual experience could not have been further apart
