My wife and I are NT members so went here for a few hours in the nice sunny weather and had a picnic. The grounds are more than big and nice enough to find a quiet spot to relax with our baby. It really is a lovely place to visit and will definitely be returning as it is only 10 mins up the road from us!

We go here all the time with our kids. The house doesn't have much so it is mainly about going for a walk, looking at the bugs and plants, etc... They usually have kids activities in the holidays. The ice cream is great and they have good food in the cafe at the entrance. You can usually find some other kids to play football with on a big lawn at the end.

Hello,Thank you for your comments and we're pleased you enjoyed your visit to the gardens. We're sorry to hear that you thought the food was expensive and can assure you that we do try to offer a wide range of food to suit every pocket from sandwiches and snacks to children's pic 'n' mix boxes and hot meals. Best wishes,Nymans

Hello Graham,Thanks for your feedback about your recent visit. The good weather has certainly helped our spring flowers to bloom and, as you say, in the summer it is a very colourful place to visit.Much of the house was lost in a fire in 1947 but several rooms do remain. The house has just reopened for the main season and you can find out about the Messel family who once lived here. most of the rooms reflect the taste of the last owner, Anne Countess of Rosse. We keep the rooms filled with flowers throughout the summer and this really enhances the atmosphere of the house. We hope you get a chance to come back later in the year and enjoy the colourful summer borders.Best wishes,Nymans

Hello Nan,Thanks for your comments and we're sorry it appeared busy with coaches on your arrival. We only have space for 4 coaches per day which are evenly spaced throughout the day. The café can be very busy during peak times and is the busiest part of the property as it's near the shop and plant centre. The rest of the garden does provide many hidden corners and peaceful spots and the house is a perfect spot to stop and catch your breath while you take in the story of the family behind the design of the gardens.Although not many rooms survived the fire of 1947 they're a useful insight to the character and personality of the last member of the family who lived at Nymans - Anne, Countess of Rosse and are filled with her personal belongings including a collection of Punch magazines illustrated by her grandfather, the cartoonist Linley Sambourne, as well as personal photos of the family, paintings by stage designer Oliver Messel and 18th century furniture. We hope you're able to visit us again.Best wishes,Nymans

Hello,Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your visit. We're delighted that you had a good time and hope you get the chance to come back and see the garden throughout the seasons. The house reopened on 1 March and is well worth a visit as you'll find out more about the artistic and creative Messel family who once lived here. Best wishes,Nymans

Hello Matthew,Thank you for your feedback and we're really happy to hear that you enjoyed your wife's birthday with us.For a few years now we've been planting to make sure we have plenty of winter interest which has been very popular with our visitors. The little roundhouse is very popular with our younger visitors and was made from wood supplied by our own woodland, and made by a team of woodland volunteers who did a great job. We're also really happy to hear that you were able to enjoy one of our family activities in the Potting Shed - we'll pass your comments on to the team. We look forward to seeing you again soon.Best wishes,Nymans

Hello John,We're sorry to hear that your visit did not go to plan. Because our gardens are managed to high conservation standards, we are unable to admit dogs into the formal garden, but you are welcome to walk your dog in the extensive woodland, for which there is no admission charge. There are many paths from the village into the woods which are enjoyed by dog walkers (and their dogs). You can pick up a map from Reception (water bowl for dogs provided) and this will highlight various routes throughout the woodland, depending on how long you want your walk to last. The only request we have is that dogs are kept on a lead during the main bird nesting season (1 March - 31 July). We hope you get the chance to visit us again.Best wishes,Nymans

Hello,Thanks for your comments. The house reopened on 1 March after it's winter conservation clean and will be open from 11am - 3pm every day up until the 31 October. We're glad to hear you use your membership so often and pay a visit to our secondhand bookshop, a perfect place to take a break during your walk and warm up by the log fire.Best wishes,Nymans

The food is good quality, but high in price, shame it's not cheaper as we would go more. If you go in the summer time it is heaving, the best time is Spring or Autumn, the trees look beautiful at this time of the year too.
