and this is the true beauty of such plantings as this .. they just go on and on looking better and better as the big grasses take hold and do their very best to be stunning, dramatic and architectural . Not only the grasses play their part - it is all the later flowering perennials such as the asters that wait until the very last to show their true beauty. So come in September and October and you will not be disappointed !

A july visit to our gardens certainly guarantees big swathes of colour and texture and an experience of wonder and delight. Walking through the borders on our little wood chip pathways is like entering a new world and with a breeze you get an audio and sensory experience too.So glad you enjoyed our garden and our refreshments. This is the first year we have offered ice creams and together with our cakes it makes for a a lovely afternoon ! We wanted to make our cafe an friendly and out of the ordinary place so we are so glad you have enjoyed it !

Yes -At this time of year the garden is a aerobatic venue for the wonderful swallows zipping around like fighter pilots and it shows just how much the garden is a true wildlife haven. Losing yourself in the borders is a magical experience and at this time of year when the grasses and perennials are at their height is very uplifting. So glad to hear you enjoyed your visit t us and f course sampled the beautiful homemade cakes - which are a must !

thank you for your review and we are so pleased your first experience of our prairie planting was a day with movement and sunshine.. this is what is key to the experience. Getting up close and personal with our plants in a dynamic situation is really the best thing wind brings the grasses to life and you can even smell the garden too as the sun warms up the oils.. the sculptors who work with us in the garden are amazing people and really have a feel for the landscape - so glad you enjoyed their work.

yes this is the right type of garden to encourage you to become an actor rather than a member of an audience. As you walk inside the borders you are encouraged to become a part of the garden itself .. brushing through the plants and hearing them move with the wind...listen to the insects and birds around you .. feel at one with nature .....you are now part of that performance ! bring it on !

a perfect summers day and a perfectly huge summer garden in which to immerse yourself was everything that paul and I hoped to achieve when we made the garden - so glad you have enjoyed it just as it was meant to be ! still to come are all the big grasses coming into flower and a chance to be dominated by plants as some of our varieties of both grasses and flowers get to meet the dizzying heights of over 3 m .. now that really is an experience not to be missed !

amazing- ly lovely review thank you ! we always wanted people to have that total immersion in flowers , textures and structure and it sounds as though you have been able to enjoy just that. As for the bees and butterflies at the moment ,as you walk through the borders just now it is like being in a Fellini film with butterflies arising up before you ! we love the fact that our plantings are encouraging such a range of insects and birdlife too . Certainly we seem to be giving Nature a Prairie Home this summer!
