Had a most enjoyable visit to our favourite artists gallery. Regretfully we saw the original works, confirming that ours are mere copies! Very informative and a real insight as to why he did what he did and why. There is no charge other than a strong recommendation about £3 donation per adult which was excellent value for Money. Super place, super time...thanks

I visited this theatre with my Mum to see the Birmingham Royal Ballet's performance of Coppelia - which was incredible. Having visited several theatres previously, I felt it was important to review this venue. It is by far the comfiest venue I have visited, the leg room was fantastic - although I was on the front row of the upper circle, so cannot comment on the legroom of seats further back. I will admit that I am one of these irritating people who cannot sit still in theatres, due to the hard seating creating an uncomfortably numb bottom. I was therefore extremely impressed with the plush seating which made for very minimal fidgeting on my part. Despite being on the upper circle, the view was fantastic, definitely the best view I have ever had at the Ballet - and I always opt for upper circle seats. The sound quality was great, and being able to see the orchestra was a definite bonus. My only complaint is that the seating arrangement was just one large row of seats - meaning during intervals anyone needing to get up and stretch their legs had to make everybody else stand up and let them through. However this is only a very tiny negative in a big purple coloured sea of positives.I say 'purple coloured' as the theatre is decked in a lovely purple, which, although rather nice aesthetically, did make me crave chocolate...

The L S Lowry Gallery at the Lowry at Salford Quays is a small gallery dedicated to the works of this iconic painter. The gallery contains pencil sketches, portraits, seascapes and the well known Northern industrial scenes. The gallery gives a fresh and comprehensive retrospective of the artist's work.Entrance is nominally free, but visitors are strongly encouraged to make a donation of £3, which is well worth the price. There is so much more to Lowry than the matchstick figures of workers leaving the mill.

A wonderful modern theatre in Salford at the Lowry Centre. The Lyric Theatre is the biggest of the two theatres inside of the huge Lowry Centre. It hosts many amazing plays, musicals and many other entertainment options.I have been to see two National Theatre productions here which include the amazing War Horse and recently the Curious incident of the dog in the nighttime. It also has a couple of restaurants and cafes and amazing views to go with it. I have sat in many places in the Lyric theatre and there really isn't one bad seat plus the seats are really comfortable! All the staff who work here are really friendly and they seem to love there job. So take a look at the Lowry website to see if theres a show coming your way soon. Even if you're not sure that you might like the theatre, give it a go you may love it! The Lowry also hosts many art exhibitions which currently has Behind the Mask, the biggest collection of BAFTA-winning actor portraiture ever assembled, which has come to The Lowry for its first time out of London which is worth the trip out of town alone! You can easily get to the Lowry from the city centre of Manchester on one of the Metrolink trams which head towards Media City UK!

The gallery provides a good insight into Lowry and his life and work. Quite extensive with lots of paintings and drawings. We also attended a show at the theatre and the layout and views excellent. Really enjoyed our visit .

Good size and informative exhibition for all ages covering all aspects of Lowry's work and life which is free but donation gladly received. There's a short film but didn't have time to view this which was pity. We had a quick walk around Media City afterwards before heading home.

Only spent an hour wandering around as some of the gallery was closed off so not lots to see. I was suprised by how diverse his paintings were having associated him only with his 'Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs' paintings. Some of his works were a bit on the dark side and looking at some of his quotes, he didn't seem that happy a person but was very talented nevertheless. It was a very interesting visit and is also free to enter with the option to give a donation.

Spent a very enjoyable couple of hours here. We were fortunate enough to catch a 'talk' ( at 12 noon and 2pm) by Brian which was really interesting and informative, making the visit really come to life. Lowry brought to life!

totally loved this gallery. never realised the diversity in his paintings., and the obvious influence of valette. the short video clip is definitely worth a watch. lovely little souvenir shop. only a short tram ride from the centre of manchester.

The Lowry building is quite jaw-dropping from the outside, although it's a pity it faces a rather naff "designer" outlet directly opposite... You have to ignore the rather garish interior (bright yellows and oranges which seem at odds with the classy metal exterior) and work your way upstairs to the permanent exhibition of paintings by Lowry. Rather ashamed to say that I didn't know much about the man or his work before our visit, but I feel more enlightened after watching the 20 minute film and having a chance to view many of his paintings and drawings. All for free. Absolutely fascinating! Quite beautiful! What a talent! And what an intriguing man...! (Great shop- another bonus!)
