We went there with our grandson and started of in the park which is adequate for really young children .Then we took a stroll down to the waterfall and old mill which was interesting, then we strolled further on and came to pets corner and another park which all in all made an enjoyable day

This place is amazing. Although created years ago, the place has been maintained to its very best. Following the river ouseburn all the way through the park, over bridges, stepping stones, and past waterfalls, this place makes you feel like you have escaped the Newcastle City life and are in the middle of nowhere... yet you are right in the middle of the city! A great place to take the family, your girlfriend/boyfriend, your dog, or just your mind. I could never get sick of it.

As a local to the area, I have been here on numerous occasions. There's a pets corner with animals including Pigs, Goats, Rabbits and birds which is free to roam around. There's often workers that will chat to you about the animals and answer any questions you have and are good with children. Next to this there is a park with a couple of swings and slides.Just along from Pets Corner is a café offering hot and cold drinks as well as snacks. From what I can remember, having only visited once, this is reasonably priced. This is a nice day out where you can spend a few hours strolling around. Walks and natural trails are lovely, there's scenic routes to take and waterfalls as well as a large grassy areas to sit and have a rest/ picnic.

My dad used to take us here as a children to play hide and seek and for walks. I have many happy memories of those days! I saddens me to see bad reviews of this place because every time I have been it has been great! It's a really nice day out, especially in the summer when the weather is lovely and you can sunbathe on the grass, play frisbee, and have picnics. There is nearly always an ice cream van there too, which is great in the summer. The petting zoo is a nice place to visit, but check the opening and closing times if you don't want to be disappointed. Even if it is closed, the walks are also a lovely way to spend the day.

Beautiful parc but it's difficult to stay here more that 2 hours. .... Short visit.it's seems to be so far of Newcastle but Not at all!! you can join it by foot during 2 km or take the train to jesmond and after the bus number 38 .In general, basic parc with basic animals in exposition! !!

So, Victorian mass arms manufacturer Lord Armstrong bought a huge chunk of Newcastle, on the east of the city centre where a small stream runs south into the River Tyne. A "dene" is a northern word for small valley, it's in Jesmond, hence the name. Lord Armstrong landscaped the area, created a long narrow park which stretches from the Tyne up to the charming village of Gosforth. He donated it to the city and now it's the largest park. Dog walkers, joggers, cyclists and strollers fill the meandering paths in all weathers, tho it's more pleasant in summer. A Pets' Corner, visitor centre and toilets make your visit potentially more comfortable. A great place to chill on Sunday morning while you recover from your Saturday night, Quayside party induced hangover.

Jesmond Dene is a pleasant place to visit, it has a mini zoo in pets corner and if you go around the area during spring, you can see the cherry blossom trees as well.

This is a lovely park, bequeathed to the city by Lord Armstrong. The landscaping is fabulous and mature and the river is very clean these days. You could be lost in the country, but are only 5 minutes from city centre by car.
