I have often driven into Bath from Monkton Comb and the views were awesome. However, I never knew this place existed until I looked at the Bath website on places to visit. I have visited Bath my whole life as it's only 20mins from my house and never been told about this place.I know bath pretty well so finding this place was a breeze, for those who need help I have included a Map with direction from Bath Spa.It was a 15min hike up the hill, you can walk the long way by road or you can use the very steep steps that is the short cut. Be careful the steps are in a narrow alley way and can be risky walking along on your own. The area is rather muddy half way so try not to use "Jacobs Ladder" when it rains or icy. We went this week which was very pleasant and warm but over cast.We were breathless by the time we got to the top but when you see the views you forget how tired you are. There is seating at the top So be sure to take some snacks with you and enjoy the view. This is the closest most accessible place in Bath to view the entire city. The views are not 360, and are very limited by overgrowth of trees. When we went the council had just finished cutting back some of the foliage.Take a decent Camera with you to capture the amazing view down on the city. I used my smartphone which was ok. But wish I dragged my DSLR up with me. Next time!I don't recommend taken small children up Jacobs ladder. Better off using the other way around Wells Road and Shakespeare Avenue. The walk down was a lot easier on Jacobs Ladder and can see it would be difficult if it had rained. I will deffo return later on in spring and early summer. Wear comfy shoes such trainers and travel light.

Great place to get away from the hussle and bussle and get a birds eye view of bath. Even better if you bring a picnic!

The view from this park is amazing - the whole of Bath laid out before you ! Quite a long uphill walk to reach it but worth the effort.

well worth the hike up to the top - a nice sturdy path to use. A small play park for younger children.

My friend who lives in Bath took me to Alexandra Park on the way to the train station the morning I left. It was nice and quiet and there was a gorgeous view of Bath. I have some wonderful photos now.

We walked from Bath to Alexandra Park. Let me tell you, it is a bit of a hike. However, once you are there, it is beautiful. We went around afternoon/evening. The sun was starting to set and it gave us an excellent chance to take pictures from the city. Do be careful going downhill if you are using the steps towards the city, rather than the sidewalk by Wells Road.

Wonderful views overlooking Bath. We are glad we stopped there first to get an overview of the city. Popular with dogs!

Victoria Park was great, but you cannot beat the views from Alexandra Park. rain or shine you can see the whole city at work and play. Boats on the canal and river, the Crescent and Circus and the bustling traffic. It will make you catch your breath.

Great little park if you can walk up beechen cliff, gives a great view over the city.Good for dog walking near the city as its a circular route.

By far the most beautiful night scenes of bath you'll see! It's close to the town centre but away from all the noise, try to go at night to see Bath from a different perspective. The area's usually quite quiet at night times, very tranquil and calming. It's also a very good spot to watch the fireworks during Guy Fawkes fireworks!

MaryG has mixed Alexandra Park with Parade Gardens, AP is FOC, one of the oldest & loveliest in Bath

Up and up the steep steps by the calton trail it goes. In reasonable shape it shouldnt take more than 15-20 min. But it is all worth it!By far the vest view over the city of Bath that is near the city centre and traversable. Went there after visiting Lennies cafe for a sandwich to go. Best sandwich ever and the view deserved it ;-)

The view is definitely worth walking up the hill for. One of the best view of Bath is from Alexandra Park, just situated a few steps away from the train station.

If you don't do regular cardio, save yourself the pain and pay for a tower trip at the abbey! But if you are on a budget and up for the challenge, you won't be disappointed! the view and peaceful surroundings is definitely definitely worth the painful exhaustion of your legs and knees must wear comfortable shoes!

Be prepared for a strenuous climb up steep steps. The views from the top are amazing and well worth it. Of course you could cheat and drive to the top.
