The story takes you somewhere very deep in thoughts. Amazing experience just to be there and listen to locals. Our Montenegran friend knew the bishop who took us there for free and we even had nice fish afterwards where you dock in Perast. Great to go to second floor and see that there have been so many people from your home country. Definitely worth to visit

There is something magical about churches on little islands. This one is even better because of the story of its origins. Spoiler alert. Returning fisherman dropped rocks at the lady of the rocks in thanksgiving for a safe fishing trip until a man made island had formed. The church was then constructed on the resulting island. Several boats visit the island for about 10 euro per person. Very very scenic. Kotor bay and Perast in general are gorgeous.

I visited Gospa od Skrpjela this summer for the first time after 20 years. It was always an interesting story about the island and the church for me as a kid. So I was eager to visit it again. My friend from Prcanj took us with his small boat and on the way we enjoyed the breathtaking view of the Bay of Kotor and hills around it. For me this island is the gem of the bay but I think they should control number of visitors there. Before it was a peaceful place for people to enjoy and pray but today it's full of tourists, not respecting the ways of the island, walking around in bathing suits and making noise all the way. And this is the only reason why I gave it 4 stars. The church and the story of this island deserves a 5 star by themselves but it definitely should be more respected by the groups of tourist visiting.

We recently visited Our Lady of the Rock and St. George on a boat trip through the bay. Our boat left from Kumbor near Herceg Novi. The first site of the small islands with Perast in the back ground was absolutely breathtaking. We stopped at St George and paid the 1euro for a tour of the island. It was the best guided tour I have ever been on, the information that was provided was delivered with passion and true knowledge, the kids absolutely loved the cannons and old guns etc. truly amazing place.

The church is located in a small island in the bay. You need a taxi boat to get there. But it's worth it! The church is really beautiful!

This place is amazing. If you are in Montenegro you have to check it out. It's a five minute boat ride to the island and the church, history, and kindness of the locals telling its story are amazing. Look to spend an hour there and you will have great memories to take home with you.

Beautiful little island. It's only a hop over the water and you have half an hour before the boat taxi collects you but this is adequate. Try to avoid clashing with hoards of other tourists - i.e. you can see when other boats are heading there! Pick a quieter time.

I found the short boat ride to the island and the church to be enjoyable. The interior of the church is nicely decorated. Photos are permitted and there is no admission fee.I paid the admission fee to enter the museum (accessed via the church) and wish I hadn't bothered. There was very little of interest in the small rooms that served as the museum.Other than a small tourist shop, there is nothing else on the island, so 30 minutes is sufficient to look around and take photos.

The story about how and why this manmade island was created is fascinating and perhaps what drew us to visit it. The boat ride was wonderful - smooth, calm waters and the surrounding bay. It is a beautiful place. But the island was less interesting. We were lucky to have gone during off-season when the island was less crowded and the air cool.

After exploring the pretty town of Perast, get a local boat over to Our Lady of the Rocks Church, which is on a tiny island not far from the shore. The guide there will tell you about the history of this little church and then you can wander around on your own and take photos.

Worth the effort to visit this church. The story of how this chruch came into existence is very special. I was suprised by the number of artifacts , pictures and beautiful items donated into the church over the years. I just wish we would have had more time in the church before going into the rooms. It is very nice and I would return again.

I went over on the boat to this little island. It cost 5 Euros each for a local to take us over on his boat. We were there for 25 minutes on the island, which doesn't sound a lot, but it is enough to take the photos you want to and then to take in the scenery around you: the mountains all around, the water and the little town of Perast opposite. There is nothing to really see on the island though, it comprises of the church - worth a quick look in, then a gift shop and toilets

Beautiful little church ... Recommend you go early as there are a lot of groups visiting. 10 euros return trip for two. We thoroughly enjoyed it and one of the highlights of our trip!

Definitely worth a trip from Perast to this small island to see Our Lady of the Rocks church. Perast itself is also a very attractive town and has a lovely waterfront with Baroque style buildings with cafés and restaurants. The boat trip only takes a few minutes, return cost 5 euros and you can stay as long as you want on the island and come back whenever you like, we used Ship Travel Dado ferry service but there are several to choose from on the waterfront. There is little on the island though apart from the church, no cafés, only a shop selling souvenirs and bottles/canned drinks. The church is amazing inside with a magnificent decorated interior, paintings on the ceilings and walls completed in the 17th. century. There is also a small museum attached to the church which costs 1 euro entry. As you return on the boat the views of Perast offer lots of photo opportunities. If you drive to Perast parking is very easy and costs 50 cents per hour.
