Stephanie Ansin's adaptation of Hedda Gabler was the fifth production I've attended at Miami Theater Center. Previously I attended the Main Stage productions of The Red Thread and Everybody Drinks The Same Water. I've also attended the SandBox productions of Paradise Motel and Bare Bones.Hedda Gabler was by far the most unique of all the MTC productions I've seen. The 2-hour production is limited to only 75 seats which are setup in a stadium-seating configuration on the stage itself (stage left). The set is on the other part of the stage (stage right). The set is an impressive two-story house with a very modern Miami feel. All the action takes place inside the house. The seating begins literally inches away from the house.MTC threw a very unique twist to the very popular Hedda Gabler story. It takes place in modern times and the acting is absolutely incredible. One of the stars of the show is Paul Tei who played money launderer Barry on the hit television show Burn Notice. If you liked him on Burn Notice, he's even more impressive on stage!I highly recommend checking out this production before its run ends in November. Looking forward to seeing many more productions at MTC.
