beaches green market

I really liked this little market. It's been bookmarked for months but I finally had a chance to stop by Saturday. If you haven't had a chance to stop by it's definitely worth doing.Somehow I was expecting a very large event like RAM, but it's actually a much smaller more intimate setting. As of 1/15 there were probably about 15 vendors out. There may be more in the Summer when more produce is in season, but as of now it was a pretty small affair.Beaches Green Market is located in Jarboe park, which is right off of 3rd street in Neptune beach. There was plenty of parking along the road and in the park. We parked farther away and enjoy a walk in the mark. Jarboe has a nice paved walking path if you want to do the same.When we got to the market there was a local guitarist playing music for the crowd, and by the time we left a local high school brass band was playing which was cool to see. There was a small grouping of 10x10 tents set up for vendors.I was able to pick up some awesome Mayport shrimp that were swimming in the ocean the day before. It's cool because I could actually talk to the fisherman who caught them, and he had some suggestions on seasoning and back-story on how the shrimp were looking this week. I also grabbed some beautiful carrots and green onions that were grown locally and were just pulled out of the ground, rather than having been on a refrigerated shelf at Publix for weeks. Some other vendors were selling farm raised eggs, meat, raw milk, handmade soap, and locally roasted coffee. They have a good mix.All in all I really liked this farmers market and I'll definitely be back. It's small so it doesn't replace RAM, but I don't think that's something they ever set out to do. More of a little neighborhood market with some amazing products brought to you by some really passionate people
