Drove across the state to meet friends for a social round at Bonaventure, and cannot say we were impressed at all with the experience. Which is too bad, since even with the residents' discount this is not an inexpensive track to play.Positives:- The pro shop staff was accommodating, friendly and seemed eager to introduce us to the club and course.- The starter was on point, although his sense of humor left something to be desired.- Electric carts! Wonderful change from some of the gas machines we'd driven in other parts of FL this winter. In good condition, good repair, and ample in number.Negatives: - The practice green was extremely scuffed, as were all of the greens on the course itself. It was as though metal spikes had been dragged across many of the greens, with significant repairs needed at every hole to putt. The driving range seemed to be an afterthought. Narrow, undulating, and not separated enough from the first hole to prevent strays from interfering with play.- A majority of the greens on the course had been scalped during some recent mowing, as there were scars from what appeared to be an offset middle blade set from a greens mower on every hole. - The front end staff was more interested in talking among themselves, or with familiar players, than in taking care of retail golfers finishing their rounds. We were forced to retrieve and load our own bags (~3:00pm) when no one could find time to help us. Oh well; their financial loss, but a bad aftertaste.- Although the fairways seemed to be holding up well under intense play, the first & second cuts of rough were in terrible condition. Leaves had already fallen all over the place, the rough was clumpy and forced us to adopt an ad hoc lift-clean-place policy. Mowing had apparently only been done on the tee boxes (which were covered with clumped grass that hadn't been adequately cleaned off), and quite a few holes simply looked unkempt.- As we turned from the back to the front nine, a shotgun tournament (the "Canadian Open" as it was called by the guys on the bags) started and our round was severely disrupted as the event drove across fairways and down paths as we were preparing to hit. Staff later apologized for the behavior of the tournament golfers, but the timing of things certainly cramped the round. Je me souviens, eh?That's enough. A great day in FL that could have been a whole lot better. When golf courses concentrate on pushing as many golfers through the turnstiles every day as possible, at the expense of ensuring they ENJOY their rounds, and no one seems interested in taking middling care of the course itself, you get reviews like what's being written about Bonaventure.

Paid $75 for a round here today (11th. March 2015) including 70 balls for a 5 hour round. Driving Range is the worst I have ever seen ..... no distance markers, target posts over the horizon so you could not see the area around their bases so no idea how close each shot was, a lake within wedge distance with floating targets again with no distance markers, very cheap 1 piece balls with no feel nor distance differentiation between a 7 iron and a driver. The course itself is a very nice layout which is spoilt by long Bermuda grass just off the fairways in which you can easily loose a ball, the greens seem to pick up shoe spike marks very easily and are bumpy so very difficult to putt on. No distance markers were evident on the fairways and the Tees did not seem to have the normal fixed markers making it difficult to judge true distances on par s3. The staff were a mixed bunch.....Some very helpful and others not so.Plantation Preserve is a much better maintained course for the same $ price where all the staff were very friendly. This is just not a course for serious golfers in its present condition which is a great shame because it could so easily be an excellent course.

This golf course is awesome. It moves a tad slow once in awhile, but for the most part, it is an easy 4 hour round. The course is challenging enough to keep you on your toes. I guarantee you'll lose at least one ball, but not so brutally challenging that you want to break your clubs. The clubhouse staff is quick, efficient and professional. The restaurant has great specials, great prices and great service. I would highly recommend playing this course when in Weston.

It has been quite a while since my last visit to the Bonaventure Grill and the place is still attractive, especially dining outside, reasonably priced with plenty of parking. Although the service has gone up in speed and friendliness, the quality of the food has gone from good to okay. The pulled pork sandwich was poor but the mahi mahi sandwich, soups and salads were okay.Their website says that it has reopened and lists Burgers, Wraps, Salads, Soups and Pasta without an actual menu.Hopefully they improve the quality of the food by the next time I visit.Hopefully

We were here for brunch on a timeshare tour. They served soups salads fruit chicken prime rib pasta salmon eggs. It was delightful. . Glad we went. If I could change one thing it would be the temperature of the food & plates.

It is not a 4 star hotel. I stayed there for 5 nights . Everything is dirty.Room service was terrible. NO security. I didn't feel secure.

I called 2 days before I wanted to play to see if I could get an early tee time. Although I couldn't get a time, they said to come in and they would get me out on the course maybe with another group. There had been rain the day and night before the morning I played. I went earlier than the time they said to come out, about 7:45 and was the only one there to play. Played by myself and went around in just under 3 hours taking my time. As more people came to play I was so far ahead, I didn't have to worry about taking my time. The staff from the pro shop to the starter were very friendly. There is a club drop off area where someone will take your clubs and put them on the cart. At the end of the round they will wipe off your clubs and take them to your vehicle.Although the course was wet and cart path only, there were very few places that had standing water where you might need to move your ball. The course is easy to follow as the cart path takes you from hole to hole. Most fairways provide a wide open area for hitting your tee shot as long as you don't try to play too close to the water hazards. The greens were the most challenging part of the course, for me, as there are several breaks and up and down hill putts. On the other hand the first cuts around the green are easy to putt through.Played for $55 plus tax which was a special rate for staying at Vacation Village.Only played once (periods of rain the week we were here), but would definitely play here again.

We ate here for lunch as part of a timeshare sales pitch. The food while plentiful was a bit under what I expected for a country club. It was cheap-ish and not very flavorful.

Always took just weekend trips away to stay here. Always a good value and if Florida resident you get a great deal (I think about $99/night, which for this property is great!) Always great service.

food prepared for the sales group was totally disappointing, a big letdown to my wife and I.The country club is also showing wear and tear, and not very impressive, as compared to Mizner, which was great.

My husband and I stay here annually and have never been disappointed with the service or rooms. The breakfast buffet is awesome and the drinks at the bar are good. Our only complaint is that over the years the rates which now includes a ridiculous mandatory $16.95 "resort fee" is pricey.

We played golf and went for a drink and dinner expecting the good food we had last April, which was the last time we were there. Well the nice waitress brings us a pocket sizemenu, telling us that the special for that particular day was not available....So we chosea turkey club, about the only thing that sounded like it could be eaten, not much youcan do wrong with a club......Think again! The fries were half done and cold, so was allthe food in the plate.....The only thing decent about the place was the waitress who wasextremely polite and efficient. This is the last time we eat there. Too bad, we are atthe club often but we will drive elsewhere to have dinner.

RCI timeshares escorted us to the Bonaventure Country Club for a "free lunch." This was a buffet that consisted of small piece of chicken soaked in a horrible butter cream sauce or a beef well done skirt steak and mushroom gravy that could not be eaten past one chew or an option of a penne pasta with a sausage that was unrecognizable to us. There was a rice pilaf as a starch which was bland, steamed summer squash, doused in olive oil (as they had it labeled as "steamed vegetables)." The salad options were a bowl of romaine lettuce and a salad dressing or a bowl of tomato/cucumber salad which was the only thing decent and that's only because it had an Italian dressing on tomatoes and cucumbers. You cannot much go wrong with that. The roll that I put on my plate was so hard that I couldn't even tear a piece off with both hands. Desserts offered were small and flavorless. The drinks served were 2-3 juices and unsweet tea and all drinks were all self serve. Even the water. The ice for the drinks were self serve from a stainless steel mixing bowl with an aluminum scoop laying IN the bowl, with everyone handling it, then laying it back in the bowl. I had my fork in hand, talking with the RCI rep, when a young service girl walked quickly up to our table, took my plate from underneath my fork and walked away briskly. Really, this is a country club??? It is very hard to get a one star from me, but this place seriously deserves it.

My husband golfed here a few times. He loved the grounds. We also ate at the restaurant. The food was wonderful. Will definitely visit again.
