we've been coming to Florida for years and as a result we're getting to explore more areas off the usual beaten track. We fell across this park by accident. It has animal refuge (seperate review) which is well worth spending $4.28 and an hour in. There are also a collection of old houses, a locomotive and a small museum, again reasonable priced and worth a visit.A hiking trail, picnic areas and camping grounds complete a great location.

I have been camping here for many, many years. It never fails to be relaxing and tranquil until recently. The camping areas are clearly marked "Registered Campers Only" but people are still coming in and setting up day picnics in camp sites. They let their children and pets (I actually saw a goat running unleashed with kids this time) run all over, and into sites occupied. I paid for my site, gladly, but expect to only share the area with other over night campers and not everyone who is spending the day outdoors. The park has tons of tables throughout the park so why are these people allowed in pay areas? I think it would be financially beneficial to the county to perhaps charge these people in camp areas for day camping. I would still recommend this park highly to any and all. The guys that run it are awesome and the price cannot be beat.

We visited for a short while, but enjoyed their nature trails places by the beautiful Peace River and lake there. It has a large field area for RC airplane and helicopters. The park also offers places to camp and RV spaces, as well as many picnic pavilions sprinkled throughout. We also had a chance to visit the Hardee County Wildlife Refuge, a very beautiful small sanctuary for bears, cougars, alligators and other animals You don't get to see everyday. Overall You won't go wrong driving here to visit this wonderful park for a family reunion or just a nice outing.

The museum have lots of things and it's very interesting to see and follow the first pioneers everyday struggle. It's like Grandma's attic with everything from guns to toys. It's also a part of Florida old history as a state in the USA. Unfortunately the Parks other houses is closed, only open on special days. We suggest they open them, have been nice to see the post and the smoke house.

I liked the museum, they had a lot to look at. I also liked looking around outside. Very cool trains and a few old homes. The amimal sanctuary was neat as well.

If you're looking for a place to camp on the Peace River, while being away from people this is it! The campsites are pretty good, the river is nice, the only drawback are the bathrooms. They are dirty and the showers only have a drape seperating your naked body from the outside world. I would have given the park a better review if they'd fix the bathrooms. Still if you want to stay on the river cheap, this is a good place.

It is a beautiful park, right on the Peace River, that is very under used. If you have a kayak, it is a great spot to put in, just remember the sunscreen and bug spray. We didn't bring our kayaks, so we camped here before heading north to Canoe Outfitters 20 min north. Great spot on the river.

We were driving through on our way south and, seeing the word museum and ready for a break, I decided to pull over. What a lovely and unexpected surprise. The museum is full of fascinating nicknacks from yesteryear, the lady who greets you full of southern hospitality from another age and the result is a full and fascinating insight into the every day lives of the people who lived in the area and thus the history of Florida. This is one of those things to go into with no expectation and to leave happy and excited. The walk along the riverbank to the nature reserve next door is lovely. And the nature reserve itself is great as you get up close to otters, black bears, ostrich and cougar.Well worth the effort if you're passing through.

Pioneer Park has lots to offer a diverse crowd! You will find a nice campground with spaces for RV's and tents, clean bathrooms, a small zoo and old train engine on the property. There is a small village of old pioneer homes to.Trails are nice, river access is perfect! There are many picnic areas and even a building that can be rented for special occasions. A nice place to stop while traveling!

Nice park. Camping, Mueum, Animal Sanctuary, play area, restroom facilities, river access and wonderful place for a walk.. Always well kept. There are fees for camping, museum and animal sanctuary. But, general access is free. Around the end of February and first of March; the annual Pioneer park days is held here: With antique cars, engines tractors and a humongous fleaa market. There is parking adjacent (a small fee charged) then there is a small fee for general admission. Be for warned though, this is a major event and there are a lot of people. Also it doesn't seem too hot during this time of year but, the florida sun can fool you, if attending please drink a lot of water through out the day, there are a few rest areas but they are more along the food fending area (which includes breakfast and luch from many local organizations). Hope you check it out. The park itself is also very crowd friendly if you are wanting a place to spend the day picnicing, or hold a family function (birthday party, easter egg hunt, holiday bar-b-que).
