I am so happy that we got a chance to see this area from a kayak it gives you a chance to see nature with out a huge motor scaring everything away. We went with evergladesareatours and had a blast, even had a chance to walk around on the islands.

The bay is beautiful with access along the road. Great photo ops and fishing boats go out from the marina.

We went on the boat trip from the Everglades National Park Visitor Center. The trip was a small boat (6people!) into the mangroves and through the bay! The guide was funny and informative. We even got caught in a rainstorm and he had tarps we could all sit under... The trip was about an hour through mangrove tunnels and lakes. Wildlife EVERYWHERE!! And the best part was that it was the last trip of the day and we sat out in the bay to watch the sunset!!! Iv'e been on this trip 3 times and it gets better every time!!!

You have to get out on the water to appreciate the bay. There are boat tours available. For me, the way to be one with the bay has been to be paddling a kayak, preferably with my wife padding a kayak of her own next to me. The shallow draft of a kayak allows a paddler to not only traverse the waters of the bay but to get into the narrow passageways of the mangrove islands offshore. The Smallwood store should be a mandatory site to visit. It has an interesting history. It is now essentially a museum.

Take the Mangrove Boat tour with 6 people into the park. Chances are that you will see the manatee en route as well as the ospreys nesting. Pelicans, cranes, aninghas decorate trees father in. Few gators are spotted. The anecdotes and information on species and wildlife was presented and interesting but what makes this tour pop is when one gets father into the mangroves and you are ducking branches that form a canopy over the waterways. To understand much of Florida this is a great start.

This place was recommended . There was about 1 foot between RVs. It's just a big lot with hook ups. If you don't have other transportation your stuck there. Everyone is jammed in. Very glad we went because we will not be going back.

This is a must see! Old, old country store. If it didn't have what you wanted, you lived without. Nice people there and well kept up.

I was camping in Big Cypress, so I drove over to Everglades City to check it out. After continuing out the road I wound up on the shores of Chocoloskee Bay. Down a little dirt road is an old wooden building--Smallwood's Store. It's named after the guy that built it. It's not a store anymore, it's a museum, but there are some things for sale; books, tee shirt, hand crafts, etc.But mostly it's about the history, and this place is loaded with it. I spent an hour looking at things, reading old letters, reading about the history of the place and the people who lived out there. It's worth the extra effort to go see it, if only for the view of the bay and a few of the 10,000 islands. I could have gotten lost in the displays all afternoon if I hadn't had so much else on the days agenda.

We stayed in single wide #67. This is the trailer closest to the marina and had water views from the front door and 2 windows.Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The owner was constatantly making upgrades to the property with solar lights, flowers, fresh mulch, etc. The clubhouse has a ping-pong table, leather couchs, large flat tv and kitchen. The backside of the clubhouse has several rockets, etc to gaze out at the water. There is a new covered picnic area next to the clubhouse which over looks the water as well.Excellent fishing off the dock. The marina was very busy.

Sites are not cleaned, dog poop does not get cleaned up and rules are not enforced. Some owners do not have to leash their dogs while others do.Only thing to do at this park is fish.Shopping is 1 hour away. All park activities are put on by the guests. The managers are not overly friendly.

Well, my wife found this place online and it looked pretty nice, and since it was her first camping experience, I decided we'd go for even though it cost way more than staying in a state park. When we arrived at the camp ground/marina I almost started laughing. It's not really a camp ground, it's a RV park. Most the the residence seem pretty permanent seeing that they had their RV's jacked up and some of them even had screen rooms. There were two rows reserved for tents and campers but each site was really small and there was absolutely no separation between sites. The giant flood lights in the camping area are nice until you want to sleep. I kept waking up every couple of hours thinking the sun was rising. There is a nice bath house that was kept pretty clean. However on the morning of our departure it lost all water. Not water pressure, water. Thankfully we had just finished taking showers. The staff was very nice, courteous, and accommodating. They provided us with free use of some fishing poles so we could fish from their dock. We actually caught a lot of fish, including a small hammer head shark. Really the fishing was the high light of the trip. I can't really recommend this place. It really wasn't that bad, but it also wasn't good. Try the Collier-Seminole State Park not too far down the road. We checked it out on the way home and it seemed pretty nice.

The campground of Chololoskee Island Park was kind of rundown and very crowded with not much space between campsites. It was very noisy and since we were in a tent and mostly everyone else was in an rv, we could not block out the noise that went on until midnight from one loud bunch of men in a trailer across from us. A bright light from a pole shone all night and made our space like daytime. The marina itself was nice and well kept and this place is okay if you have a boat as you can dock your boat there and take off into the bay. But that's about it. We checked out after one night. The owners were nice and apologized but we decided to go home for the following night . We have been to other campgrounds that are peaceful and relaxing.
