We spent an afternoon visiting the area, walking through the park, shopping in the stores and having lunch. Great location, close to downtown area, but not a part of it. Older historic area. Great place to spend a relaxing day. Lots of people out walking their dogs, biking, pushing strollers, etc. Will go back next time we are in town.

Love this hood!!! Always a good new restaurant waiting to be discovered or a quirky shop. I adore Bark, because I love dogs and they always have something wonderful. Good coffeebars and just a great place to pass the time...

I went with my walking club through this historic district. The homes are so majestic and I had a great time captures images with my camera. If you're doing a walk bring a stroller for the babies because it's a long walk. Make provision for the small kids or you can drive to area restrooms when needed.

charming old houses, people out and about, neighborhood restaurants, shops and galleries, even a community garden.

Riverside-Avondale is a gorgeous and social neighborhood, with eclectic amenities and a diverse community of residents. It was voted as one of the top 10 Great Neighborhoods by the American Planning Association - the first neighborhood in Florida to receive this national recognition. The neighborhood features the most diverse collection of architectural styles in the state of Florida and has a distinct mix of history and culture. There is a variety of local restaurants, bars, breweries, boutiques, and parks - all making it a great place to explore and meet new people. Highly recommended when visiting or moving to Jacksonville.

Dining varies from simple & unpretentious to creative menus in appealing, animated venues. A little something for everyone in a compact area -- easy to explore. In addition to restaurants, there are assorted other neighborhood- & visitor-friendly businesses that create a welcoming environment.

We regret having moved to the beaches from here. The beaches can't light a candle to Riverside/Avondale. This place has character. It has mom and pop shops and restaurants. It's an actual neighborhood where you see and recognize people more than once. I really do miss it.

Super restaurants, nice walking area with lots of parks and the river. In a sprawling red-neck town like Jax, this is an oasis of "the best that once was." Nothing to dislike except coming from the north you have to go through the maze of highways or the heart of the city to get there.

Plenty to see and do. Great food at Bricks. Shops to delight all. Florist, gifts, candy. Real estate and more.

Jax is a sprawling, suburban place with lots of strip malls, generic housing developments, and the like. Riverside and Avondale are "old" Jacksonville with more life and character than you can find in almost any other part of town. Worth a visit.

Riverside/Avondale is a fantastic area to live, shop, dine, relax and enjoy! The area also offers beautiful tree filled parks with serene walking paths.A true piece of paradise.

Good entertainment, great fresh vegetable market (some even organic), and great prepared foods for lunch. Overall great Saturday morning activity.

A fun, funky, vibrant area of town. Lots of small shops and restaurants, some beautiful parks, and lots of old houses. You can spend a day easily walking around the area, visiting some of the shops and hanging out at one of the parks, eating at one of the many different little restaurants. Or visiting the Cummer museum and gardens. Definitely an area not to be missed if visiting Jacksonville.

If you only see one part of Jacksonville, this should be it. From the funky shops and restaurants in 5 points, to the local breweries, and brew pubs of the Park and King area. Of course you have to visit the upscale shops of Avondale with its great restaurants and shops for every taste. Add to all this some of the best parks, and museums in the area, and it is a day or two well spent.
