Had a great visit today. There was a considerable amount of low lying fog today that combined with it being a week day and there weren't many visitors when we were there.I didn't clb the lighthouse this visit as I have in the past. The lighthouse itself has a magnificent view however it's a steep tedious climb. The cove surrounding the lighthouse always has some form of Ocean life so it's best to bring binoculars if you have some.

A guide had a zoom lens on a Peregrine Falcon nest! The displays were interesting and informative. Staff were fantastic. Lighthouse was very interesting. Imagining people living there gave me chills. Fabulous views! Will take all my visitors there!

Scenic ocean views in every direction.Eventhough we didn't tour the lighthouse, you can arrange a tour and go inside. There are numerous walking trails that lead to amazing views of ocean waves meets rock/rocky formations.Don't miss the tide pooling .Many cool things to see.A docent and park rangers are happy to answer all of your questions. Many cool sea creatures to be found in these pools not to mention sleeping seals.Walking on 14 million year old cobblestone can take some getting used too,but nonetheless cool. Fun to be had for all ages!!!

We did a quick one week driving trip down from Newport to the California Redwoods. This was the one lighthouse area we stopped at. We fully enjoyed it - bring binoculars for the birds and seals. We bought the 5 day state park pass and found this a good deal - visited Shore Acres SP and the Dunes SP fee areas too.

Sadly the lighthouse was closed so I went down to Cobble Beach. Lots of stairs, be prepared. Wear REAL shoes. DO NOT wear flip flops on Cobble Beach. It's a beautiful beach...but there is about an 87% chance that you could break your ankle while trying to walk! I got about 10 feet away from the bottom of the stairs. Couldn't possibly go any further. The rocks are slippery and steep in some areas. I almost fell like 17 times. I seriously felt like a turtle stampeding through thick chunky peanut butter. Maybe I'm just really "special"...idk. I am a young lady, totally capable of walking on some rocks...or so I thought. I eventually made my way back to the life saving stairs. Thank God!! Back to steady ground! Oh, and all of this happened while being brutally attacked by psychotic flies...they are unbelievable! On a positive note...I saw several whales : )

I visited the lighthouse on a rather windy rainy day..that didn't stop me from venturing out to the view platforms. It was spectacular! The birds ..so many of them... They were flying along the winds and circling back around so many that they looked like giant clouds.. So worth watching them enjoy themselves the views were stunning and this is a beautifully kept lighthouse...I didntventure downto the beach/ tide pool areas but they looked like a great time with an easy paved path/road to walk upon

My wife and I were visiting our daughter and son-in-law in Portland, OR in late October and we toured Yaquina Head during a day trip with them. This entire area one seems like one highlight picture after another. In spite of the weather- or I guess because of it- there was lots of wave action on a windy day. The views were great all around the peninsula. The lighthouse was closed, unfortunately, for some kind of maintenance. We also enjoyed the Interpretive Center which explained the history of the area. I recall the volunteers working that day were very friendly and helpful. I recommend you visit this area and be sure to allow enough time.

We had a wonderful view of this lighthouse from our room at the Elizabeth Street Inn. One of the many lighthouses along the Oregon coast.

We went for a walk on the beach at sunset and it was beautiful. I really can't say anything else, but it is a need to do when visiting Newport.

Very accessible and beautiful , would of loved to stay there all day, but had to head home. Next time will stay longer!

Tide pools, light house, panoramic views of the coast line and nice trails to walk. Definitely worth the visit.

Even when crowded, this area is wonderful to visit, but it is special on days when few are there and you can enjoy the serenity, the ocean, the views and the walking.

The light house tour guides do a suburb job and the period clothing is spot on accurate. Don't miss going down to the cobble beach and visiting with the whale watch guide, the museum / interpretive center is also full of great displays.

This visit was to share the lighthouse with our Japanese friends here for the first time. What a surprise it was for us after so many years of not stopping by. Amazing bird sanctuary! Worth the stop. Great visitor center too!
