Just went to China Camp this past week for the first time in many years! So nice spending time there. It was quiet being a Tuesday afternoon, and with the picnic tables almost a water's edge, it was nice just hanging out there. The facilities were impeccably clean and it was all in all a very relaxing space.

The Shoreline trail is a great scenic beginner mountain bike singletrack trail. Be aware it is quite narrow and there will be bikers and hikers in both directions that may be difficult to pass at times. Part of it is closed due to construction. There are many bathroom facilities and picnic areas along the main road to stop off for breaks. Near the end is the actual China Camp, where there is a small private beach and dock area, and kayaks for rent. There is good beer and food for sale also from some very nice locals. For hiking, there are some nice hiking-only trails along the bay that go up to some private hills to offer nice views and great areas for picnics. Overall, and quite and peaceful afternoon retreat for groups or alone.

China Camp has always been beautiful. If you want to get away from all the noisy automobiles in Marin County this is the place to relax. You can walk.hike.bike and see Nature in its best. The Bayview has one of the best of trails in Marin County. Not many people know about this. Please go there and enjoy. John Buckmaster.

China Camp is a step back into Bay Area history. It is especially interesting if you can talk to Frank Quan who has lived there his entire life. It is a great place to kick back, have a sandwich and disconnect from our hectic lives yet you are 15 minutes from the highway.

We have hiked through here and ridden our bikes, mountain and road. The views of the bay are beautiful and it's always nice to be in the trees. What makes it even nicer is that is t is just a few minutes from downtown Sam Rafael.

I am a leaf on the wind, flying through the jungles on Endor, burdened with glorious purpose to find that which I seek. And I knew I had arrived when riding my mountain bike at China CampNuff Said

the chinese fishermen's village is interesting, and there is camping at a site a mile away, as well as picnic areas with bay views that can be reserved.

Visited for an outdoor wedding. I recall it was dry and hot, even in October. Great facilities. Luscious view of the bay!

It is an interesting place to visit if you are in the area. The drive is beautiful along the San Francisco Bay. The views are really nice.

I've been running and biking at the China Camp State Park trails for about 15 years. Beautiful serene in nature.very close to civilization but feels like you're out in the wilderness.

China Camp is an amazing place to go for families to take kids to learn history to enjoy Bayview too enjoy nature to take nature hikes. It has it all. There is so large that it isn't really just one spot as you're driving through North marin along the coastline or I should say the bay line you get these beautiful incredible views over the water the salt marshes the pickle weed and all the other plants that grow in the area. It's a really beautiful state park there are plenty of picnic tables and overlooks and little hibachis that you can cook your food on and bathrooms. It's one of her hidden secrets here the tourist miss when they come through. The most important thing about it is the historical aspect. There is a great Chinese settlement on the back side when I say great I'm not talking about city size but it is was pretty large for a Chinese community and there is a good informational walk that you can take about the history of the Chinese in the San Francisco Bay Area. These are the people that built California at the turn of the century. It's definitely worth a trip to go out and spend a Sunday afternoon having a picnic at the bay. We're just watching the storms rolling or whatever you like but it's a beautiful beautiful park.

China Camp is a wonderful venue for hiking, picnics & a good time. Well worth the visit to travel back in time & learn of the history of this epic place, but the beauty of being by the bay on a sunny day? Fabulous!

This is a largely undeveloped huge historic park, with bay beach access, a swimming pool and bbq grounds, hiking trails, biking trails and camp grounds. There is a parking charge at the more developed beach facilities, and at the pool, though if you're willing to walk, you can get in for less or for free. The history of the place is fascinating, and in the summer, they have a festival that celebrates the original Chinese shrimp fisherman for whom the place is named...The open space in this park is phenomenal... a real treasure... beautiful... from many of the peaks in this hilly area, one is filled with the majesty of nature, and the beauty of the bay, the trees, the woods....Have loved this park for a long time.... But my big gripe with China Camp is that they have, over the last 20 years, gradually restricted access for dogs, and increased access for mountain bikers who careen over the trails as if no one else in the world matters. So no more peaceful walks with the dog, now it's dodging mountain bikers who travel in packs, with no bells, and seem to be put out that anyone would walk on their trails....The camp grounds are accessible, but do get quite crowded (boy and girl scouts share space with families and groups of pals). Good news- it's safe, and rangers are close by... of course, so are other campers, and rowdies... The main beach is a delightful place from which to launch kayaks, have a bbq dinner, hang out...also over the last 25 years, the hours of operation have decreased, which means that the park is closed at dark, so venturing out for a first am walk is not as safe as it was before....(with no night patrols, homeless settle in)...But in daytime hours, and when weather is good, this is one of the reasons living in the Bay Area is worth the housing prices, the traffic and congestion...

I had a friend many years ago, whose mom owned China Camp as a private residence area. Milt had us out for dinner and a walk around,. Among other things, he told us that John Wayne made of movie there. It was nice to return and see that it has been restored. Good place to walk around and so necessary for Marin to maintain

if you park within the park and beach facility, there is a parking charge. China Camp State Park has multiple hiking trails that start near Peacock Gap and go into the camping areas. Beautiful vistas can be enjoyed on most of the trails. On the Bay side there is a self guided tour with educational markers with descriptions of the animal and plant species that thrive there. The beaches are quite nice and very natural. Many mountain bikers share the trails with hikers, but it's a friendly co-existence. The museum in the China Beach fishing village is a bonus for historical value.
