Historic covered area worthy of a wedding. In fact one was going on when we were there. It also has beautiful beaches, cool bunkers, and trails winding along the coast and through trees. A neat hiking experience. Camping is available, but we have not tried that.

Although a little muddy during the rainy season it's a great place to walk your dog with views of Mount Rainier and Puget Sound and you are really close when the Ferry goes by.

Manchester State Park is a 111-acre park with camping and lot of saltwater shoreline on Rich Passage in Puget Sound. You can see Bainbridge Island .and Seattle from the beach and there is lots of forest to explore. South of Manchester State Park is a lodge that can be rented and sits by a wetland and a number of small lakes. Nice place to relax and get away from it all.

This is a beautiful park; great to walk your dog in and then to the beach for a game of ball. Wonderful for Family reunions, friends gathering, weddings in a beautiful old WWII brick shell of a building. We played volleyball, walked the trails, saw the WWII bunker, and have camped there too.

The guides say this parcel of 111 acres is flush with hiking trails that go through the woods and down to the water. It's true. Trails are wide and well maintained, and take advantage of rolling hills and a bit of seashore. I particularly liked the old buildings that once stored torpedoes or served as soldiers' bunks. It's a great place to picnic, with covered facilities, new bathrooms, and a concerned sign that warns visitors to get to high ground in case of tsunamis.

Such a Great Family Park to have a Wedding, Birthday Party, or just a Family walk in the park to get the kids out of that stuffy apartment or house. Summer or all Year long is so nice to go there in the Rain. Enjoy.

The trails are great for people and dogs. There is living history to partake in and the park is seldom crowded. The restrooms have always been clean

We are from Texas are were visiting friends who live in Port Orchard, who walk in Manchester State Park almost every day of the year. They love the walk since it is not too difficult for their senior legs. I liked the fact the park has waterviews of one of the channels off Pugent Sound and we saw a huge military vessel go by while we were there. Also we walked through the historic section where there is a large building which was a early 1900 torpedo warehouse, another building used for coal storage and one by the point that looks like a gun battery. My favorite walk was the stroll through the campgrounds, since we love camping. Each camp site is unique and surrounded by towering trees. Since I haven't visited any other Washington State Parks I am unable to compare this one to those. Regardless, I thought our walk was lovely.

This park is small but if you want a place that's not overly crowded, you can fish there and sometimes the fishing is really good, the park rangers are friendly and knowledgeable. We were fairly new to the area and were trying to hit the local places first and we've been by the sign to the entrance of the park on numerous occasions and thought we would just stop. The trails are natural and not obviously cleared out which we both like. We don't hike trails for distance but to enjoy the scenery so having the trees and foliage natural is a huge plus for us. As is true with most WA State Parks you'll need to purchase a Discover Pass - which is one of the best deals you can get if you do a lot of exploring in state parks in WA. We've been buying one every year and even if you only use it a few times, it's a great thing to be able to enter the park and not have to worry about paying to park. There's lots to see and do there. There was a flute fest last weekend and it's my understanding it's one of the major flute fests in the country. It was very entertaining and informative to listen to the myriad of music including the drumming session which had everyone moving to the beat! Great job!!!!So - Manchester State Park is a tiny diamond in a state that has probably more parks in it than just about any in the country but it's packed with planned and 'do what you want' activities. Don't miss it! You'll be the one missing out if you do.

I was originally from Port Orchard. I had not been here for years. I visited the park to take my kids to the beach. We have been to several state parks in Washington state. This is the least favorite so far. The water at the beach is saturated with seaweed and during low tide, it smells quite strong. Must be due to its position and the way the tide moves through the area. We hiked along the beach to see if there was a better place. Not much luck. If you take the trail or hike along the beach to the other side of park, then you see a large fueling depot. Overall, I do not like the park for visiting the beach. However, it does have a nice outdoor entertaining area for weddings and large picnics and a decent campground. But there is no point to go camping here, if there is not a nice beach to visit during your stay. Several other campgrounds on the peninsula are a better choice to stay at. Just an FYI, must have a discover pass to go here. $10 daily. $30 for the year. Good for all state parks.
