We took our grandchildren here. They loved it and so we did. Interacting with exhibits. Everyone learned something without knowing it.

This museum is really nice and we learned a lot. You begin with a little film and then walk through at your own pace. Totally worth the $10 pp to get in.

On our way home from a mini vacation in TN, we had to stop in Cherokee, NC to learn about the tribes. We had more time on our return trip for this stop. Rt. 441 was closed over the Smokies, had to go the long way around, so listen to winter forecasts. We paid entry of $10 each as adults. Many of us have small % of Indian blood in us as our distant relatives relayed, as they came in contact with various tribes as they pushed thru the US (via family stories, possibly one relative was of the 7 civilized clans). The Museum starts off in the Paleo then Archaic, then Mississippian periods. My husband and I got to see, read and hear more pieces of our past. Reading and seeing more information helps us understand the life of our grandparents (great grandparents) in Oklahoma and the lack of completed Ancestry paper trails. If you like history or want your children to see & learn the Indian History, this was very informative! You are allowed to take photos of all inside exhibits for now. The gift shop is big and has some local gifts available. PS: The repetition, reminds me of school book information and is helpful for school children, to link people or incidents.

Had a lot of interesting artifacts and information. The exhibits were very repetitive and not well organized. The gift shop was very nice.

We were looking forward to learning more about this group of Native Americans. The museum is a one story labyrinth of exhibits that seem. The exhibits themselves did provide a little information but rarely provided a true picture of the people. Some of the people adopted the ways of the white man and in fact had slaves of their own and large land holdings. They 'negotiated' with the local settlers to move to a new area with compensation. Some of the Cherokees did accept the conditions, whereas other were resisting. The exhibits themselves only cursorily cover this period. There are facsimile images of documents and books of the period but little depth. In fact, as we proceeded through the exhibit, though it was professionally presented, it was in fact very repetitious. The same story or fact would be presented three or four times. It was as if four persons were commissioned to write a history of the people and all four were then given. One of our party was from Overseas and very interest in learning about the Cherokees came away less than satisfied with the depth and presentation. You can learn much about the Cherokees life in the Carolinas but be prepared to have it repeated more than once.

Interesting Museum explains a lot of Cherokee History. I just thought it cost a little more than it was worth to visit.

It was a very pretty and humbling experience to walk thru this museum. Highly recommend it. They have a cool souvenir shop also. Everyone was very nice and appreciative of your patronage. We plan to go back in summer and help put money into their city.

This museum packs a lot of information into a little space. I feel like I only saw half of what was there and I would like to go back again. There were numerous exhibits with audio that are interesting for kids. Not much in the way of hands on exhibits. The gift shop is closed on Fridays.

Our favorite stop on the reservation. First time bring the kids home to Cherokee, they learned so much and cannot wait to return. Staff was amazingly friendly, helpful and took extra time to teach the kids about their heritage!
