Love the GM cars on display. And it looks so neat seeing them on display in the front of the building in the glass area.

I stopped here b/c I was on the people mover, and wanted to find some coffee without going outside. Sadly, everything was pretty much closed, but they did have nice restrooms. I want to go back during the week, but I'm glad that I looked around. The design can be confusing, but if you're already milling around, it's neat. It was fun to see the GM cars, it's waem and it gives you a spectacular view of Canada

This Marriott connected to the Ren Cen may not be the most deluxe hotel in the area but it is a convenient place to stay. Ren Cen has it all and you don't have to leave the building when it is zero degrees. The restaurants here are good...the fast food is good...there is a convenience store.....confusing at first to get around in but it is a great plan

The first time I went to the Renaissance Center I was totally confused by the layout of the building. I've been visiting the building at least once a week for the last ten years, and while I'm not Totally Confused anymore, I still get lost once in a while. I think the interesting, industrial-feeling building is representative of Detroit, but really it's not what I'd call people-friendly. Lots of poured concrete, little curvy passageways that seem to go nowhere, and trying to figure out how to get where you want to go. They used to have lots of security guards stationed at different posts that would help with directions, but they don't seem to be standing around there anymore. But there are lots of things I like about the RenCen. I like the fact that you can walk from the Millender Center to the RenCen to City Hall and get on the People Mover without going outdoors. There are some good shops and restaurants to visit in the linked buildings. Unfortunately, the whole complex is pretty much dead on the weekends except for the movie theater and some of the high-end restaurants, unless there is something really major going on downtown. Most shops and restaurants cater to the office crowd, so they don't open weekends at all. Walking on the glass floor in the central tower can be queasy-making the first time you do it. But it you look over the edge you can see GK's display of cars below you. GM has a nice display of cars, from historic to contemporary vehicles. It's worth it to take the RenCen tour. The Wintergarden facing the Detroit riverfront is really nice, and they hold concerts and play music there. It gives you a spectacular view of Canada, that's especially pretty in the evening with the twinkling lights.

Loved the free guided tour which included spectacular views of Detroit! The guide was friendly and knowledgeable of the history of the renaissance center and Detroit. We also boarded the people mover from here.

We were staying at the Marriott here so not a big deal to stop in. It was well worth it. There was a lot of the new cars to see and you can sit in to them all, its basically a show off of their cars, no sales or anything like that. The building itself is very cool, right on the river. There are clean bath rooms and lots of places to eat. You will see the whole thing in 30 minutes

The GM Renaissance Center is really a business center, so it's not really a tourist attraction, but at the same time there are some decent shops here to have a look at. You can eat here because there are restaurants, but most of them are fast food. It's worth checking out but don't stay too long because there is much more out in the city to explore. This place is for people that are too scared to experience what this city has to offer... Get out there... Explore!

The Ren Cen is a massive, cold and sterile presence on the Riverfront. The pluses are the River views and the proximity to the rest of downtown.

If you were in Detroit and have not seen the Renaissance Center you have not really been in Detroit.Shopping, a great view across the river to Canada and a walk along the river and some good restaurants.

A building so large it has its own zip code...believe it! It's like a little city, with everything you could need.My wife and I arrived to take the noon free tour after registering at the Pure Detroit shop. There were 22 people signed up, so the group was split into two smaller groups and off we went. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable (he did not have a mic so sometimes it was hard to hear). The high point (no pun intended) was taking the outside elevator up to the Coach Insignia restaurant (tip: when you get into the elevator, face away from the door and you'll have a great view of the riverfront area as you ride up). Looking out the restaurant windows, we listened to some Detroit history and our guide pointed out area attractions below. There is a large GM showroom on the lower level with current vehicles which are unlocked and available for up-close inspection. The People Mover has a RenCen station which we later used to make a loop of the downtown area. Also accessible on the ground level is the Detroit Riverwalk, a wonderful option when the weather is warmer and less windy than on the day we visited. Restaurants and limited shopping are available, and there is a Green Ring glass walkway encircling the mezzanine which many workers use to get their walking in during lunch break. The building had many beautiful accents, such as the glass sculpture "Borealis" in the main lobby. This was a great place to launch our adventure in downtown Detroit!

The GM building offers tours -a must do! They building itself is interesting with plenty of history . The elevator ride to the top is scary but well worth it. The building has some shops and restaurants-one shop in particular-all Detroit stuff-shirts, books, nice tile pieces and more.

I didn't expect much after all it is a building with offices, shops and restaurants. It is very industrial looking inside with concrete walk ways. I think there are 4 round towers and a central taller tower. They are covered outside with glass windows. You can take a tour starting from the Pure Detroit store at noon or 2 PM. Parking is terrible. You never know where you are because everything looks the same. There are some lighting effects on the tops of the buildings.

I'd seen the GM Renaissance Center when I'd been here this past weekend to see Detroit for the NYG-Lions MNF Season opener. It is a very impressive looking building that symbolizes GM's empire on American Cars but also from the distance makes Detroit look grander than it actually is. It is worth touring if seeing Landmarks in Detroit, it is well located near the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel on the Detroit Riverfront and overall is Structurally and Architecturally impressive. If one sees this building only, they'ed have no idea that 99% of Detroit looks the exact opposite of this place though and for that reason, one will get a complete and wrong impression of this city on the basis of this Center.

Beautiful building with a stellar view of the Detroit River and the Canadian side. Nice showcase for GM on ground level with a huge selection of their automobiles on display - well done! A very worthwhile visit and best of all free! We did go up to the Coach Insignia restaurant for a drink in the bar hoping the get a seat on the windows. The bar had two tables by the windows reserved for diners only - a let down. We could turn around and see the view or go and stand by the window - but not a cozy feeling like you get at the Willis Tower bar in Chicago. My suggestion would be to tell the elevator attendant you are going up for a drink - take a walk around - don't buy a drink, and leave! Free.

It's very easy to spot the building since it's massive and tallest in town you can see GM cars display in the first floor and some shops to go around it's easy to access so why not stop by the building when you are here it's around ten minutes from the greektown
