graber farm tour

The Graber family farm tour was conducted by Mrs. Graber. She shared some insights regarding how this Amish family lives. She explained how power is generated in their home and other buildings -- they use propane and air compressors to power the lights and their tools. She explained how she cans food in the basement kitchen, how she uses the two tubs for laundry and how they host church in their homes. The out building which houses their phone was interesting -- rather than have a phone in the house, there is a separate small building for the phone and answering machine. This set- up reduces the distractions for family living that could be caused by phones. They also have a store featuring items that they and some of their neighbors make -- wood furniture, baskets, sewn items. Very nice.

The Graber family has been providing tourists with farm tour for many years now. This is a mgreat opportunity to visit with Amish folks. They are a gracious family and will show you their home, barn, and workshop during the tour. They will answer your questions and make you feel at home.
