elephant's trunk flea market

Most of the stuff here could be classified as "Junk". Lot's of booths to pick from but in two visits, didn't find anything to buy. Looks like the vendors are going to the Town Dumps for their staff. Might be that it's the end of the season and anything good sold off earlier in the year. Will go back in the Spring and see.

Enjoyed a beautiful Fall Sunday touring the booths at Elephant's Trunk. There was a great variety of anything and everything and the vendors were really friendly. Walking it without taking a break and studying everyone's wares took us 4 hours so plenty to see. Catch the end of the day bargains!

This was my second time here. We drive 2 hours just to get here and both times we haven't been disappointed. Many vendors here and half a dozen food trucks. We see things here that we normally see at other flea markets. There's even a pick area for the larger items there equipped with dollies and flat bed carts to borrow.

Great flea market. Nostalgia and great buys all in one. Vendors were friendly and willing to negotiate.Great day outside.My second time there and I'll go again.

Great show and hundreds of dealers . Good quality and range of prices. Easy access and easy to get around.

Great flea market with lots of vendors selling everything from jewelry to antiques and collectibles. Picked up some fresh fruit and veggies on the way out. Prices vary widely with some vendors looking to make a sale while others are looking to make a killing. Buyer beware! If you like to. Shop, Elephant Trunk is great fun.

As a buyer and a seller I can say the ET is the best market around considering the bad economy. Prices can be high, but as a seller I understand the costs involved in selling. As a buyer I do not expect garage sale prices as do many buyers. Too many flea markets have become giant garage sales where many buyers think items should be 3 dollars or less. This has driven away the sellers with better items and what's left is junk. Not so at ET. Better collectibles, antiques and odd items can still be found.

We arrived about 10:30 and it took about ten minutes to find a parking space. We had to follow people heading for their car and wait for them to pull out. Next time, we'll get there early, closer to 7:00. On the flip side, around 12:30 or so, many vendors were starting to get packed up and were more willing to discuss a lower price. This place is huge! We spent three hours walking and looking (and buying) and we didn't get through half of the area. Almost every vendor we spoke with was willing to negotiate. We got some great bargains and had a marvelous time. We recently checked out the Raynham (MA) Flea Market, and Elephant's Trunk beat them by miles for vintage items. About 60% - 70% of the Elephant's Trunck vendors had vintage or antique things as opposed to only 5% at Raynham. We can't wait to come here again.Apply sunscreen during the summer, as there are very few shady places. Bring bottled water and consider a hat with a brim to keep the sun out of your eyes. Wear comfortable walking shoes. The food vendors are great! We had excellent hot dogs from one and fried dough pizzas from another. There are some wooden picnic tables available nearby and porta potties in at least two banks at both ends of the front field.

This is by far the best flea market in CT. Go early. It gets really packed and parking is hard to find after 10:00. If you go earlier too there are more items however I found that if you stay til 12:30 the vendors packing up and usually willing to give deals on items they don't want to pack back up. The market has great staff and great vendors. Everyone is very nice and you can even see a camera crew on some days filming shows. It really is a place you can find a diamond in the rough and if its a nice day, its the perfect way to work on a tan. I love going to this flea market and make it a weekly adventure on Sunday mornings.

To find the best deals you need to be there early any Sunday morning. There is a $2.00 charge to enter the grounds.,however, do not park in the condo's across the street...they tow illegally parked vehicles, do not bring pets not allowed on the grounds and do not leave them in your vehicle...the police will be called. Many vendors, you can bargain shop, ask them to lower their price or pay what they are asking. A multitude of items to be found old and new, homemade, antiques, toys, clothing, plants, food vendors, many treasures depending on your taste. If you like flea markets worth the time walking up and down the isles....guarantee you will not walk away empty handed.

On a recent weekend away we were told by locals of this flea market. There is a 2 dollar admission charge which didnt bother us at all. What did bother us is that while the say they are open till 2 most vendors were packing up by 12:30. Had we known in advance we would have definitely chosen to go earlier. There are some treasures and deals to be found. The gate workers were miserable and there are NO DOGS ALLOWED apparently not even in the parking lot, which is fine as you shouldnt really leave your dog in a car anyways. However, again the workers will miserably enforce this with about the tact of a sledgehammer to the face.

I have been to better flea markets in other areas, but this one is the best in Western CT. On a nice Sunday morning, after we walk our dog and have our breakfast, we usually head to "the Trunk". There is a $2 admission cost per person, which used to be $1, and they should charge you less when there are fewer dealers there. They set up the area so that it looks full from the outside street, then once you get there you see how empty it really is - this is usually when the weather is not that great or when it is winding down at the end of the year.My wife and I have a good time going there. My wife looks for jewelry and dolls and I look for cars and baseball memorabilia. Only about 25% of the dealers actually let you negotiate with them, the others are just dreaming about the prices they think they're going to get for their old stuff.You may hear a dealer ask: "Are you going to buy something? This is not a museum." These are the types that will not budge on their prices. Many of these dealers don't have a clue how to deal with their public. It is still a lot of fun to see old nostalgic items, and we go about once a month when the weather is good.PS: They only have port-o-potties on site.

Best place to look for treasures! I've furnished my whole apartment from this place. It just takes some creativity and a little elbow grease.

The elephant trunk is an inexpensive, interesting, somewhat fun Sunday activity for young and old. Nice on a sunny day to stroll through the articles of old and antique.
