Nice place to walk around with history information placed about. Beautiful walkway over the water. Could spend hours here, nice little place to get away out of the "city" area.

The Newport News Park has a little bit of everything. There are boat rentals in two locations. There are walking trails. If you are into bow hunting or just playing around there is a range for target practice. The park has camping sites, playgrounds, picnic areas and even a golf course! Beautiful scenery

Have a cookout, take pictures, canoe/paddle boats, fishing, camping, great park rangers, minutes from Fort Eustis, Christmas lights celebration, fall festival and more.

I grew up in this area and NN Park has always been a favorite... golf courses, lakes, trails... very well managed... this year we drove through for the Christmas lights and that was fun to see... it has been a few years since last visited the part for Christmas and they made quite a few upgrades to the lights... very nice...

It is beautiful! With something for everyone! You can golf, picnic (several locations and sights), hike (miles and miles of trails), walk, ride your bike, fish, etc. Past the main enterance, the next one, is where you can camp, rv, rent watercraft, bicycles, etc. This campground has great biking and motorcycling scenery too! If you are here during Dec - Jan timeframe, do see the Festival of Lights (at the park, after 5PM).

Newport News park has an array of activities for families. They have a campground, frisbee course, and at least three playgrounds. Boats and canoes are offered for rental. Amazing hiking trails and many picnic shelters for gatherings. They have one playground that is in the sun and one in the shade, which helps when it's sunny and hot. They have an excellant light show starting on Thanksgiving day and going to New Years eve.

Flora, fauna, history, camping you name it Newport News Park has it all for the nature lover. There are scheduled activities or you can enjoy the park on your own, take a leisurely walk to study nature, take a bicycle ride, walking or peddling be sure to bring your camera. Into golf, there's a golf course, or enjoy a cruise on the lake (rent a paddle boat or bring your own boat or canoe). There are two annual events that are must see/do if you're in the area at the time; 1) The Fall Festival which takes place the first weekend in October and 2) The Festival of Lights from Thanksgiving through January 1. There is a cost associated with these two events: For the Fall Festival you pay for parking and for the Christmas light show, a drive-thru, its per car.

This is a neat and nestled park…full of cute little wildlife (beavers, foxes, deers). You can rent bikes to use on the massive trails, I normally just take a nice leisurely stroll to unwind and DESTRESS. Yet another cool thing to take part in is my FAV thing to do "here" is paddle boating or you have MORE than enough room to do archery (they do NOT rent the bows…you gotta bring your own). I have family from other states who HAVE fishing licenses for VA and the enjoy it here. Not too much of a touristsy feel on the water….or pier. Many organizations hold BBQs as the pavilions are for rent.Being its fall, the rich and vibrant colors of the leaves are priceless and lends to a chill time with friends or family. I will no doubt take the CAR RIDE thru the Festival in Lights….it is a Newport News tradition. So if you are new to the region or hadn't heard…..grab the fam, some hot chocolate/coffee, and get in LINE……oh my (the line)….but take in the sights, wonders, and sounds of the holidays!!!!

We set up our tent at Newport news park. Great campsites. Electric and water. We were close to bathhouse. Staff was very friendly and made sure park was safe. Little camps tire that had everything we forgot!

This is a nice park, pretty all year with nice walking trails and bridges over the lakes. This is a great place to trailer your horse where you can ride from Newport News park via fire trails to Yorktown Battlefields. First stop at the ranger station off Jefferson Avenue to grab a map of the trails. Some fire trails take you through water after heavy rain which is very nice on a hot day.Typically we trailer to Yorktown, then ride through the woods to Newport News park (if you already know the trails). It's great to ride even in hot weather as most trails are shaded. Once you get to the ranger station in the park you can grab a nice cold soda or water. In winter they offer the seasonal display of lights & there's a minimal charge per car. Very nice & kids really enjoy the ride.I love taking pictures in this park - spring, summer, fall and winter. Great place for a walk or jog. They used to have a great archery range - not sure if it's still offered.

Stayed there in May 2014. RV spaces are mostly back-in, with water and 30 amp electric hookups. There is a RV dump station on site. Choose your spot wisely, some have a lot of slope which may may make it difficult to level the trailer. There are Civil Ware era trenches and breastworks inside the RV area, but I didn't encounter any ghosts of the Blue and the Grey. No metal detecting or treasure hunting is permitted near these historical structures. Showers and toilet facilities, while widely spaced, are clean and adequate. The price per night is very reasonable, and they have staff on site to assist you with check-in and tourism info.

Beautiful at any time of year, but especially in the fall. Be sure to take some bread for the ducks, fish and turtles! And don't forget your camera. You will have many opportunities to spot deer, birds and even a beaver or snake if you're lucky.

The park has lots of well-maintained walking, hiking and bike trails. Most of the trails have great water views of the reservoir. Park staff are friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are clean and easy to find.
