The Farmyard is one of these few places which you connect personally to. It's not about factory farming but more like an animal rescue shelter.Non commercial, privately owned by Cheri Hallisey who loves here animals more than anything else - and they love her. Best of all: they love the visitors. You will be surround by llamas, donkey, dogs and horses -- some of them babies -- all vying for attention.We were doing a sunset trail ride -- in wind and rain without the sun showing up at all. We had a very great time, enjoying every moment. She should ask for much more than 40 USD for the almost 2 hours ride plus preparing and getting to know the horses, petting all the other animals, playing with baby horses and just missing the birth of a cow by some minutes. (Cheri called us to report that everything turned out to be just fine.)This place is definitely worth a visit. In our case it was more than worth a 500 miles detour. When I knew I would be in Texas for a conference one of the things I wanted to do was go to a Texas ranch/farm and take in a sunset trail ride with my husband. Not having any leads I did what most others do.... I googled trail rides in San Antonio. After viewing many sites that seemed to be for ranch vacations I came across The Farmyard! I emailed the contact info and prompty heard back from Cowgirl Cheri. She sounded so sweet and pleasant in explaining all about a sunset trail ride at her farm. I took her up on it. The price was not bad and she offered a 10% discount for paying cash. The farm was a nice little ride outside Downtown San Antonio, about 20-25 minutes in Bulverde. We were able to feed some of the other animals there including Cowboy the Ox. She had such an array of animals there I could not believe it!!! Our 1 hour ride turned out to be closer to nearly 2 hours!!! She obliged to take many photos of us. Even her dogs accompanied us! I would highly recommend her farm to anyone interested in a sunset trail ride. She really gave us our money's worth. Thanks Cheri!!!!
