Nestled on the shore of Raritan Bay is a public Beach (Keansburg, NJ) that cannot be matched. The beach itself is pristine, maintained by the historic town and many volunteer organizations. With the restored wooden boardwalk (footpath) along the entire beachfront, The adjacent amusement park, Water Park, and plethora of eateries and watering holes make it a perfect place to visit

Nostalgic and great for family! Right on the beach, water park is great too. You get a lot for your money. Glad they came back after Sandy.

Nice beach. Not a lot of people because you are swimming in the bay and the water is dirty. Expect to wash twice whatever you wear in the water. Lots of shells to pick up on the beach.

On the way back from spending a beautiful fall day at Sandy Hook we decided to check out Keansburg Beach. I parked in an area called Waterfront Park which had a 911 memorial and access to the beach and boardwalk. This is a nice clean looking local beach. Sure some of the boardwalk is a little weathered and some nails needed hammering in, but that’s Mother Nature at work. If I lived close by I would definitely take advantage of this beach, especially in the Summer. There was a sign posted that no pets were allowed on the beach. I assume that meant year round since it didn’t say except for off season, so I didn't take my dog on this beach, too bad she would have love it.

Not fair to judge the beach by those 2012-2013 reviews. HURRICANE SANDY DID MAJOR DAMAGE! The shores have been trying to recover; it is nice to see one review mentioning that. But it is NOT helpful now that it is 2014 to see a reeview of this in 2012-23 "there was glass..." duh. Thats what a storm does, windows break! "The boardwalk was closed" duh - it was blown away. Please update these reviews- why do I want to see how it was in 2012? Really misleading. Question is: HOW IT IS TODAY??

I have avoided the Jersey shore for years and here is my reason why: my son has never been to the shore & has constantly complained that I have never taken him. Well took him. We walked out of the water to find many pieces of broken glass in the sand. Thankfully we didn't cut our feet. Now I know why it's a free beach. Other than the beach, there one staff working 2 or more rides. Which made it short rides. Would I go back, probably not. Didn't like the needle shore before Sandy & don't like the needle filled shores now.

I have never been to this beach before so I can only review on what I see. I had heard that Sandy hit the town/beach hard and it seems accurate upon visiting. I went mid-day on a Monday. The "boardwalk" (I use quotes because it's on pavement, but still charming) was mostly closed and under construction although some games/food were open. It was practically empty. There were rides which I think were operating but nobody was riding them to say for sure. The waterpark across the street was very busy though. There is a bathroom in the boardwalk. Just walk down the alley across from the Moby Dick ride. They were cleanish, but not any worse then any other boardwalk bathroom I've been in. I parked on a nearby street for free and did the extra 5-10 minute walk to get to the boardwalk. The beach was closer. I'm not sure if you can access the boardwalk from the beach, because of all the construction. I didn't see a way but I didn't explore too long. The beach was not extremely clean but not extremely dirty either. Typical litter which again, I've seen on most jersey shore beaches that have an active boardwalk nearby (Point Pleasant, Seaside)The beach was almost empty too! I saw maybe a few people come on and off. It was a very very hot day and a weekday so maybe this is why? No lifeguard, but no beach fee. I went with my almost 3 year old daughter and we spent our whole time in the water because it was so hot! The waves were very calm and the sand was soft (although too hot to walk on!) There were steps and ramps to get onto the beach which is good if you have a stroller or a wheelchair. All in all I'm glad we explored here. it was one of the first beaches you can reach from Northern Jersey and it was free. I would be curious to check it out again once repairs are finished. I never felt unsafe, but it was a little desolate which meant it lacked some of the atmosphere. I'm sure once it's up and running it will be a fun visit. As I said in my title a great place for a day trip!

We've never gone there to swim or spend the day - but we love to stop by and visit when we go to the amusement area. The kids put their feet in the water and look for shells/fish. Since Hurricane Sandy it's really easy to get to near the fishing pier. There was a steep slope but now it's much flatter since the storm. Definitely worth stopping by to visit if you are in the area! The views of the NYC skyline, especially on a clear day, our amazing, too!!!!!!

I just went to this beach after someone referred me to it. I was in North Jersey and was told that this beach is much closer than the more famous Sandy Hook beaches. Its 45 min closer than Sandy Hook but not nearly as nice. The beach is free but parking on the street is very expensive because it is meter parking only. I parked in the amusement park parking lot for $5 which is right behind the beach. The beach itself was really dirty from Hurricane Sandy but in general the sand wasn't so nice and the view is lacking. Overall I think its not worth it and I plan on going to Sandy Hook in the future.

I grew up going to this beach every summer. I really particularly care for the beach but I really enjoy walking the strip, riding the rides, eating and playing the games.

All I have to say about this beach is that clearly no one takes care of it. There is broken glass everywhere and dead fish of all sorts on the beach. No Lie. This place also got hit hard by Sandy so it is still rebuilding.

I've been going to Keansburg beach for 55 years, and let me tell you, for what it is, a small amusement park, it is one of the best for a cheap day out! Sure, back in the 1960's when I was growing up, it was clean, fenced in, and you had to pay to get on the beach. The boardwalk stands extended ALL THE WAY TO END ON BOTH SIDES (before they made the tracks there), and was bigger, but today, due to some of the updating, it is still a nice place to bring the family. Before they had the water park, they had Crystal Pool, the ONLY salt water pool in the area, another fresh water pool and a skating ring on the end, joined by a real boardwalk that extended all the way down to the end of the beach. I do miss the YELLOW STAND, MANNY'S AND NAPPY'S from days gone by (AND LET'S NOT FORGET JERRY SHEEN'S WHERE I SAW THE ORIGINAL FOUR SEASONS, WHEN MY AND MY COUSINS SNUCK IN. I WAS ONLY FOUR YEARS OLD AT THE TIME). They are all gone now, but the memories live on in the spirit of the boardwalk. I love this place. There are a lot of memories, good and bad (Including one with Donna (Who ran the original carousel with me, a girl who I dated for about a month before I was forced to stop going due to some gang activity.) Ah, the good old days.. Keansburg has a lot of history being around for over 100 years, and it shows. It has passed the test of time. I would highly recommend Keansburg as a day trip. Come for the July 4th fireworks, but be forewarned, get there early, IT WILL BE PACKED WITH PEOPLE, LIKE LAST YEAR. The beach and water have gotten cleaner over the years. The only problem is its' proximity to crappy Staten Island, and that where most of the stuff that washes up on the beach comes from. Other than that, enjoy the beach, just bring some insect repellent, you might need it.

Pay for your parking and go have some fun on the rides and some good food. Steak sandwiches and fries are plentiful. Fun place for the kids and not too far from central Jersey.

We went before hurricane Sandy however, the beach is clean and wonderful water. I love to pack my lunch and spend the day just lounging around
