Great place to go sledding-- free, adequate parking, easy to get to. Lots of local folks with their kids and grandkids out there. Beautiful scenery, sledders courteous to one another, plenty of sun, fresh air and fun! A great way to spend the afternoon! Was the oldest one on the hill today but undoubtedly the fastest sledder of the bunch. Age makes no difference, it's a NH thing!

This city owned park is a jem. Dogs can be off leash prior to 10 am . So on a Saturday or Sunday morning there is generally 20 or thirty dogs and their owners on the trails and down by the water. Because it's no dogs "home territory" they tend to just play and chase balls. Almost no scuffles and what few there are end almost immediately. In the winter the sledding hill is always very busy and a wonderful scene from the road. Parking is limited though and they don't let you park on Rt 4 so come early for a parking space.

Just go out and take yourself, or a friend, the kids or the dog or all of the above and take a walk through the mowed paths in the fields, or in the woods along the bay. Unspoiled views that are timeless. Can get a bit wet in the low spots after a rain. Sledding on the big hill in winter. Town land, will keep its rural character from ever becoming condos ! So enjoy it.. Bring a picnic !

If you like long walks, quite, beauty this is the place, however at times some of the trails are a little soggy so wear shoes that you don't mind getting wet. Nice place to take your dog and it goes all the way to the water..

Whether you are looking for a walk in the woods, along the shore or along rolling meadows, Wagon Hill is a perfect spot for all seasons. Even winter, it provides a great sledding venue as well as a spot for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Personally, I like to take a walk with my dog, find a peaceful spot in a wooded area with a water view and and just relax or meditate.

Durham voters saved this gem for recreational use. Today it is popular for sledding and walking. The crest of the hill looks out to Great Bay. The wagon at the top is a magnet for photographers. The farm includes a house (not open for visitors) and family cemetery - a typical New England arrangement. A child can handle the well-worn paths. The tall grasses make it a likely place for ticks, alas. Be sure to protect yourself from Lyme Disease before arrival.

The town of Durham bought Wagon Hill a number of years ago when it was in danger of being developed. It was a polarizing decision at the time, and has continued to be for a number of townspeople. As a result, not much changes at Wagon Hill, which is actually a pretty good thing! With it's rolling fields, wonderful woodlands, awesome sledding hills and waterfront on the bay, it's truly a unique look back at what New England was like at the turn of the previous century. There is now a community garden as well which is nice to walk through. Trails and paths are laid out across the property. Many events are scheduled by the Parks & Recreation department throughout the year.

If you are visiting in the Durham area, Wagon Hill Farm is lovely place to visit for a walk and a picnic. The "Farm" is a large tract of land overlooking Little Bay to the south. It was "saved" from development by the Durham electorate and is owned and funded by the Town/Tax payers. At the head of the dirt drive entrance to the farm ,there are several parking spots, a port-a-potty, and a path to the iconic old hay wagon which at dusk is magnificently silloueted agianst the evening sky. Walking trails are well-groomed, mostly across expansive fields. Some of the trails take you down to and along the shore. There is a gazebo and small beach (no lifegueards) en route, a great place for a picnic.Wagon Hill Farm is open to the general public at no charge. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed after 10 AM and their doggie deposits cleaned up by their walkers.

This is a great spot for sledding in winter and hiking along the bay in warmer months. It's busy after a good snow storm, but otherwise is a fairly quiet spot to hike or picnic.

Our son enjoys sledding down the hills on Wagon Hill just after a heavy snow. The parking lot fills up fast, but everyone who shows up is having fun! Great for snow shoeing, too, in winter.

Love this spot. Easy walking trails to beautiful views of the water. Between Durham and Portsmouth. Came here as a UNH student and now enjoying bringing my daughter here 10 years after graduation!

This is my favorite place to hike along the bay with the sweet salty air wafting around. It is also possible to gather some geocaches. There is very little elevation gain which makes perfect for my wife who has heart concerns.

We've been going here for almost 20 years when we want a scenic hike. Now we take our kids and dog, and love it for sledding and kite flying.

Excellent spot to sled with the kids in the winter!
