I can't express how much I enjoy this lake! If you're looking to bike, run, walk, play ultimate, or simply relax, this is the place for you. It's most beautiful in summer and fall.

Lake Harriet is one of the chain of lakes in Minneapolis. It is so beautiful. Typically in the spring, summer and fall and sometimes in the winter on a nice day I will walk around the Lake with a friend. There are always so many people jogging, biking, walking and enjoying the Lake. There is also a bandshell where concerts are held in the nice weather.Lake Harriet is so charming and a so derail attraction in Minneapolis.

Lake Harriet is amazing for walking, people watching and falling in love! There entertainment at the bandshell is really great too! And you can bring a picnic to enjoy while you are listening to the great music!

The bandshell here has great music at this park. You can hear the wonderful music even at a distance away, so you don't have to be seated up close to the band, although there are many benches available to sit.

Lake Harriet is a lot of fun! They have movies in the park some summer evenings and live music most of the summer. I took sailing lessons there a few years back too. There's just a lot to do there.

I walked with a friend here for a very long time, and it was beautiful- even in the winter. As one of the main lakes near minneapolis, it too is popular, but not as crowded as Calhoun. Definitely secluded and just as beautiful however. Great if you want to exercise with a view!

Lake Harriet has always been high on my memory list over the years from riding the old Como Harriet trolly line going to Gopher hockey games, passing thru Linen Hills and in the early 1950's this was a grand adventure. And the street car still here for short runs as a tourist attraction. And I remember going to get fresh pumped water in the hand pump for the gold fish at elementary school and I will stop now and pump a drink of the great fresh water to bring back the sliver spoon memories of youth.Minneapolis is more than blessed to have these chain of lakes all within its boundaries and they have been part of the fabric of what makes the high quality of life in the Twin Cities.Jim from Maplelag in Minnesota

The kite festival was 01/17/2015 and it was a gorgeous day. Families, couple and singles were out in droves to enjoy a winter day at moderate temperatures of 30 degrees. We were with our adorable black lab who ran ahead of us when we were in the middle of the lake away from people. It was so wonderful I went back the next day and had a solo walk across the lake with our dog. Just as beautiful and more peaceful and serene.

A magnificent lake with paths to be traveled on foot, in the running race or in bicycle. To stroll, to keep shape. A restaurant is near the marina.

Went canoeing on the lake last summer. We had a great time. Always a treat to go to Lake Harriet. A patch of peace in the city.

In the fall a ride along the east side of the lake is like a ride through an autumn forest miles from the city. A little get away from city life. If you take the ride at sundown you may catch a great sunset.

This lake has fine 2.8 mile walking and biking trails directly on the shoreline, 2 small beaches, and an excellent outdoor pavilion offering food for sale, and free summer and fall entertainment several times a week.. 1/2 mile from the pavilion is the Lake Harriet Rose Gardens and a Japanese wildflower garden, definitely a must see during the growing seasons.

Beautiful lake with biking/walking trail surrounding it. Easy parking along the parkway. Quick kayak put-in. It's fun and relaxing to paddle around and be among the sailboats.

I lived near Lake Harriet and Penn Avenue on the south side of the lake for 21 years-from 1944 to 1965. The walking trails, the canoe racks, the moored sail boats on the north side, the old Penn and Morgan beaches on the south end make up this most peaceful and serene urban lake in Minneapolis' chain of lakes. On a summer evening, if the breeze was coming from the north, we could hear the band concert from our house. The "Weather Ball" on the old Northwestern National Bank building gave us our weather report: red for warmer, green for no change and white for colder. If it was blinking, look for precipitation. In the evening, cars were parked facing the lake on the southeast side with couples watching the "submarine races". I, regretfully, had to find a different spot because my parents regularly drove that route. Lake Harriet retains much of the same flavor today. Yes, the trails have been updated, the bandshell has been replaced and the weatherball has been replaced by Internet weather and radar reports, but Lake Harriet remains the Eternal Lady it was 70 years ago. Sailing or canoeing (kayaks were not in vogue then and no motor craft on the lake), skating in a straight line with closed eyes, visiting the rose garden, swimming at Main Beach on the north side with the huge diving platform or at the quiet Penn Beach just below my house or just taking a leisurely walk around the lake has not radically changed. You cannot go wrong in visiting this magic place.
