durango and silverton narrow gauge railroad and museum

除了自1882年以来一直在运行的吓人的蒸汽RR外,DSNG是现在去很多地方的唯一通道。大多数风景只能坐火车或者步行才能看到。DSNG RR更像是一个游览车。因为人们可以放松,认识些朋友,有时能够交换信息。火车在西弗敦(Silverton)停大概两个小时,很多人喜欢第二天开车在城里转转,看看公路沿途的风景。

历史火车行无疑是美国最好的火车游之一了。行程的终点是西弗敦,来回一天,感觉时间过得很快很自在,这是欣赏与河峡谷唯一的方式。秋天是旅行的最佳季节,白杨可谓是层林尽染。如果可能的话,尽量预订火车后部的私人车厢,这样就能走到后面的平台上去尽情享受美景和拍照。

我一直以来都很想实现这次骑行,这下终于有机会了。不过本次骑行还是有许多地方有点儿遗憾。我感觉路况不是很好,特别吵,而且总是有许多小石子儿。如果你的空间感和方向感不是很好的话那么你可能会感觉特别的晕。这里的美景真心不错,而且这的午餐非常棒。不过需要提醒你的是这一路有相当大一部分的风景都是一般般不算特别迷人。不过这一段还是挺漂亮的。但却算不上特别别致。我们在树林里穿过好长一段路,浪费了不少时间。可能这是一趟非常给力的旅途,但我觉得和我想象的有点儿不太一样。

我们灰常灰常喜欢在这种具有历史感的轨道上行走的感觉!这边的风景非常美丽,一路上都是秋的颜色(在西佛敦这种高海拔的地方,秋季在渐渐的褪色)。我们是坐着总统车过来的,总统车在沿窗户的地方还有私人俱乐部座椅。我们还可以来到火车后面的露台上沿路拍照。我们一起来得朋友都说这次行程是他们一生中最棒的(他们去过很多很多地方)。

乘坐老式的蒸汽火车是一次很棒的体验。Silverton是一个漂亮的矿产小镇,有大概500个人。这里没有喧嚣吵闹,每天都让人放松。火车之旅是漫长的一天,但是景色漂亮。我是残疾人,但是他们对我的个性化服务很好,还有个带轮椅升降机的专车给残疾人使用。

We rode on the Knight Sky a wonderful car if not the best. The car was at the back of the train so we got the best view. Our conductor Kevin was very knowledgeable about the train and Durango, plus he made the best mixed drinks. We were able to move about from car to car so me and my husband spent a lot of time in the open air car, it has the best view for picture taking. On the way back we stayed in our car, drank some drinks and enjoyed the train ride back.

its a very special day as the train makes its way up a beautiful valley from Durango. Some great photo opportunities along the way.Silverton is a great little town, steeped in history of silver mining (hence the name as "there was silver by the ton"!) many decades ago. Also a fantastic day for rail enthusiasts - don't miss the museum at the old railway station in Silverton.Tip: If it's a cold day make sure you have plenty of layers for the train ride.

Great view and super well organized and train was clean. Silverton is nice to walk around and shop or have lunch.

Amazing train ride, stunning views. Long, perhaps take the bus ride up to Silverton and then ride the train back down to Durango. Sit on the left side of the train coming down for the best views. I lost my sunglasses looking out the window, they fell 1000ft into the canyon. Not for the faint of heart !

Conductors very knowledgeable, views are more than amazing, the stop at Cascade Canyon was memorable. Highly recommend this trip. We rode in the Knight Sky car - one of the best on the train, if not the best. The clear roof allows for amazing views of the canyons from the comfort of the warm car; yet you can still step outside onto the viewing platform to take photos, get fresh (cold) air. Not sure I would try an open car during the winter months - too cold. Giving five stars here because this is such a great, unique experience.

My husband and I were very excited about visiting D&SNGR for our 25th wedding anniversary. We went two days before the trip to set up our reservations. During that time we told the woman at the desk that we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and would like a first class ticket, at a table for two. After double checking,she assured us that everything was just as we had requested. The day of the trip we were shocked to find out we were seated with another couple. We spoke with the woman who booked the reservation and a member of management who informed us that we could take what we were given or we could get a refund. We were then told that we were lying by the woman who took our reservation, who was obviously trying to cover her mistake. Trying to make the best of the situation, we decided to not fight and went to sit at our romantic table of 4 with perfect strangers. While the trip was beautiful and everything we hoped it would be, it tainted what should have been a wonderful memory. To top it off the server was rude and told me to stop talking about what happened in front of the entire car. A 20% discount was given, but in my opinion we should have ridden for free or been given what we were promised. Thanks for derailing our 25th wedding anniversary.

WOW! GORGEOUS views from the Knight Sky car (the one with the glass domed roof)! This was a LOVELY trip that I highly recommend. BREATHTAKING scenery, TERRIFIC guide (Heather), and DELICIOUS cinnamon rolls and almond cookies from Yellow Carrot. Try the Bloody Mary. YUM! But, if you're not a fan of alcohol, the hot apple cider will curl your toes and it's FREE! This trip was one of the highlights of our visit to the mountains! PRECIOUS memories! Because of when we were there, we were not able to go all the way to Silverton. But, HEY, the trip to Cascade Canyon was absolutely delightful!

Love the train so much we got married on it (private car on a glorious October afternoon). Avoid the standard cattle call and pay for the upgrade, especially during the peak tourist season.

Thought this would be the highlight of our trip......and sad to say....not so. The tickets were over-priced to say the least. Almost two hundred dollars for two people to ride this train is way too much. The host Chad was good, and very informative. Not worth the money spent......

My husband and I were visiting our 21 year old son in the area. Several weeks ago I made reservations for us to ride in the Knight Sky car. I even paid extra for the concert train which includes brunch because this was the only day we could go. I have heard so many great things about the train. We were really looking forward to it. As we were about to depart we were told that railroad management would be aboard today. Now that would make you think really great trip. Unfortunately they brought all management staff from the Durango train and a train in South Carolina and seated them all around us. They proceeded to completely turn our car into a travelling workshop/social event. Half of the time our attendant was too busy socializing with them to attend to the paying customers. Half of the time someone's was either hanging over our seatback or had their butt in our face. I did not pat almost $500 to learn about the social life of Mike, Casey and the gang. We finally moved out onto the observation deck to get some peace. Reserve an entire car for your "train management" so they can all socialize and talk shop. We paid far more money than we should to be forced to listen to Mike's tidbits on where he wants to hike and who is getting an apartment with who. Employees of the train should be much more respectful of the paying guest. I'm sure the passengers riding in other cars had a good time although it seemed like the entire staff congregated in our car. It was a total waste of money. This was the one "big thing" we chose to do. I have ridden many trains and travelled extensively. You get the award for rude, obnoxious behavior. Hire some adults who care. Ruined my day.
