I have been to a lot of old car museums, but this was one of the best collections of vintage and rare cars that I have seen. Best of all it is a free museum. After talking to the proprietor, I got invited to see the annex which was an extra treat. This is a must see if you go to Fort Knox area

On June 18, 2013, at the end of an enjoyable trip through Kentucky, our 2005 Altima "limped" into Swope Nissan in Elizabethtown. Our air conditioner compressor had locked up, causing the clutch to give way. The compressor was replaced with an aftermarket unit, the system was evacuated and checked for leaks, refilled, and tested again. We were then ready to head home.During the two hours repairs were being done on our car, the staff and mechanics were friendly, knowledgable, and accommodating. While our daughter had free use of the Internet and television, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our hour in Swipe's Cars of Yesteryear Museum next door. We wandered through more than fifty classic and perfectly maintained cars, all which could have been driven off the floor at any given time. Any questions we had were quickly answered by the hostess. We thank all involved for the wonderful unexpected tour through the museum while our vehicle was being repaired, making our unscheduled visit to Elizabethtown very enjoyable.

We have traveled a lot and went to car museums in many places and we have seen cars here that we have not seen before. There is a guide there if you want to ask questions and Shannon was very informative. If you are in the area this is a must see!

We took 2 boys, ages 6 & 9, to this museum. It's a good hour-long visit, with a guided tour. Free. No touching the cars, for those of you who have uncontrolled kids :). Great history, from 1914 on up. Knowledgeable guide, patient with kids. Mr. Swope was there when we were there!

A fine collection of automobile history from the 20th century. Everything from Rolls Royce to Renault to Nash and Packard. The price of admission is to not touch the displays. Photos are welcome and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. No one rushes you. You can stick your head in a lot of windows to check out interiors and instrumentation. Be sure to look at the Rolls Royce that escaped from continental Europe 2 days before WWII was declared and read the fascinating story that accompanies it. For automobile aficionados, this museum is a must. A lot of history and an easy venue for all. When I was there, the founder of the museum, Mr Swope, Sr. was in his office, affable, and very approachable.

The museum was small but they had a wide variety of cars from 1914 to 1970. I especially loved seeing the luxury cars from the 20's and 30's. The cars are all good quality both the restored and the preserved. Our guide or the lady that was working that day, was knowledgeable and i enjoyed listening to her. This is a must see place if you are a car lover. The other good piece was, it's free.

We were traveling through the state of Kentucky and stopped at this museum because it was on the way from point A to point B. I was not expecting much, but was very pleasantly surprised. This is well worth a visit if you are anywhere near Elizabethtown KY. The lady who was working the museum the day we were there was very knowledgeable about the cars at the museum, which apparently change periodically as this is a large private collection. There was no admission fee, and the museum is open 10am to 5pm, Mon-Sat. I hope the labels on the photos are correct; I don't claim to know anything about antique autos, but tried to make a note of the photos in order. My apologies for any errors.

This museum is a wonderful gift to this area from the Swope family! We have visited several times and have seen some different automobiles each time. A different "guide" has greeted us each time and all have been very knowledgeable and entertaining with stories about the histories of the beautiful old cars. It is definitely worth the stop!!

We visited this impressive and meticulously clean museum and from the moment we entered we were amazed. This is a private collection of the best cars made over the last hundred years. All are in beautiful excellent condition. We were greeted at the door by Morris Judd, a true car lover himself, who offered to let us browse through alone or he could escort us. We asked for him to lead us through and his tour was informative, pleasant, and flawless, Even Jay Leno has visited to appreciate the rare and beautiful vehicles. The quality of the museum contents and the generosity of the Swope family to open it to the public is beyond my words for appreciation.

We were on a road trip and stopped here for a bite. And in practically the middle of nowhere there was this great little car museum, and it's free. Great collection!

One would never expect the quality of cars in this family owned collection and there is no charge! They store other cars and rotate them, some are worth millions.

The Swope Cars of Yesteryear Museum is an amazing exhibit! The personnel are extremely knowledgeable and so very nice. The showroom is exquisitely clean and organized and believe it or not, IT IS TOTALLY FREE !! The old cars are in pristine condition and there were several that I had never seen or even heard of. What an interesting and educational visit was had by all of us. We had 28 in our Goldwing MS Chapter L group and they had plenty of room for all of us. Heck, they even gave us a guided tour of the place and discussed all the cars. It was excellent and when we go back, we will certainly visit again. Thanks for the great memories and good time!

Small museum owned by local car dealer and philanthropist. Staff very knowledgeable. Free!! Worth stopping if you are close by and live classic cars.
