Basco lighthouse is beautiful. It affords spectacular views of the town and ocean. There is a man who makes souvenirs at the base of the lighthouse where you can buy them. Support the local economy!

Easy access by foot to this lighthouse which doesnt work as such anymore but is a popular landmark for sunset viewing. No rickety stairs here but winding stone steps leading to the viewing deck where you afford a 360 view. Clean and no vandalisms. It was windy when when I went there so I couldnt get nice photos, not with all my hair (even in ponytail) flying around.Great for jumpshots against the sunset though.

This was the first lighthouse built in the Batanes group of island, situated on Naidi Hills on Batan island. The light was powered through photovoltaic cells that haven't been repaired since the last typhoon that destroyed the solar panels. What a pity that the lighthouse functions only as a tourist attraction nowadays. It is a circular six-storey tower with a view deck on the fifth floor. You do not have to pay an entrance fee to go in. The stairs are not too narrow and can accommodate two-person traffic. Good to know for those who get an attack of vertigo. After a circular climb over damp stairs, you are treated to a 360-degree bird's eye view of the surrounding sea, town and countryside. Hang on to your hat. The wind gusts are powerful! There are old telegraph bunkers in the field that surrounds the lighthouse. One used to function as a restaurant but was not in operation during my visit. I wonder why a new lighthouse is being constructed in a nearby town when there aren't any plans to repair the two non-functional ones.

The Basco Lighthouse is an iconic Batanes landmark on Naidi Hills. We got to climb up to the 5th floor to see the view of Basco on one side and the bay on the other from the lighthouse's viewing deck.

Basco lighthouse is found in the town of Basco Batanes and strategically constructed at Naidi Hills in Barangay San Antonio. Surrounded by the lush green hills and the open sea, the Basco lighthouse is comparable to a 6-story building in height with gallery or viewing deck on the 5th floor. The viewing deck is a perfect location to view the entire Batan island from end to end including the majestic Mt. IRAYA.

There are two lighthouses in Batan Island - East and North. The latter is really easy to visit, while the former takes a bit of a traveling. Both are worth the visit!

Climb Basco lighthouse to view the sunset from there. Then return a second time and have a picnic by the area where Bunker's Cafe is located (closed and not operating when we visited). Make sure to check Mt. Iraya by the east side when you spend the sunset here. If you're lucky enough, you'll get the golden sunset on your west side and Mt. Iraya with a moon by the east side! We did and it was the perfect end to our Batanes trip!

In my 6-day stay in Batanes, 3 of those afternoons I spent waiting for the sun to set here in the lighthouse. I never got tired of the view! It is such a relaxing place. The viewing deck on top also gives a 360 degree view of Basco. The topmost floor contains the lighting equipment, which is non-operational. According to the locals, the lighthouse is only functional during summer. It can be reached via tricycle (P50 one way fare), by bicycle, or a 30-minute walk.

Haay. This place is really wonderful. This is very near to the city. This is part of North Batan tour. If I were you, just rent a single motor so you could enjoy this place.:)

All three lighthouses in Batan Island are non-working but are well-maintained. You will get to experience this lighthouse on the Northern part of you tour. This is a good area to experience sunset as it is facing West Philippine Sea.

Surreal, awe inspiring, and romantic--that's how I would describe the views at the lighthouse. The lighthouse itself has a rustic feel to it. It's the views that will eventually get to you and make you want to sing The Sound of Music!

Everyday when we were in Basco, we planned to watch the sunset while at this lighthouse. While others took tricycle or vans, it is easily reached on foot for about a kilometer from downtown Basco. Aside from the lighthouse, there are grazing cows and huge shipping ships that make the view lovelier. Don't forget to bring a torchlight upon visiting for it gets dark on some parts of the way. Don't worry- it is safe!

The sourroundings of the light house was clean. The color of the lighthouse and its doors was so colorful. Blue door and greendoor. Climb up the tower for better view of the city. Enjoy the clean breeze.

We went to the Lighthouse as part of the first day tour. The view was breathtaking and the breeze wonderful. We went up the lighthouse and spent some time inhaling the fresh air at the top. We waited for sunset and took pictures. There is a souvenir store at the ground floor. Prices of souvenirs are the same in most stores so if you want to buy something there is no need to hold back.

We arrived at sunset, and was treated with an uninterrupted view of the Batanes coastline at sunset. There was even a wedding held an hour before our arrival, so we got to watch the picture-taking of the bride and groom - quite a romantic setting.... The Tour Agency we hired arranged for us to have dinner at the adjacent Bunker restaurant, which served a sumptuous meal. The view, coupled with the breeze and smell of the ocean with the quaint lighthouse as your backdrop makes it one of the best places to go to in Batanes.
