This is a nice spot to rest and admire the surrounding buildings. We were grateful to find a place to sit in the gazebo to rest our feet and enjoy the shade.

Enjoyed the architecture and watching the people and hearing the history. Would recommend it for any first time visitor.

The plaza is a nice place to walk around and admire the old buildings. We also stopped in at several of the art galleries. Trinidad has some very talented artists and it was very interesting to see the different styles of art presented at the various galleries at the Plaza.

Lovely to sit in the evenings watching locals kicking a soccer balls, theater goers enjoying Theatro Terry, art lovers checking out the fair and music lovers heading to the corner

It is an impressive square with most of the important buildings to be visited in Cienfuegos. very nice to sit here on a bench under the trees in daylight and watch what is going on around!

This town is run down but beautiful...the colorful column lined streets provide shade, and provide this city with a unique architectural inheritance. The Plaza is quite grand, and the Thomas Terry Theater is a perfect example of colonial know how....keep things light, airy and cool.

The Arch of Triumph, dedicated to Cuban independence, gives the Plaza Jose Marti a very distinctive look. A marble statue of Jose Marti is in the center of this lovely square in the heart of Cienfuegos. Surrounding the square on all sides are many magnificent buildings. The cathedral dates from 1869, the theater built between 1887 and 1889. The Museo Provincial is worth a stop and, although the Palacio de Gobierno doesn't allow visitors, it is worth a peek through the front door. After strolling through around the square it is fun to walk the boulevard with its shops and cafes and also find the street markets in side streets .Very worth the visit!

Cienfuegos was the cleanest city we visited in Cuba. Really peaceful and charming. Get a local guide and take a 2-3 hour walk there. The plaza de José Martí is the heart of the city.

Take a stroll through the Arco de Triumfo – dedicated to independence. Of course there is yet another statue of Jose Marti. -You can admire the cool looking buildings around the plaza like the church and the theatre. There is also the Palacio de Gobierno (provincial government building.) Worth a look. Beware of the parking fee. Some guys will ask for parking money. If they don't have a notepad and a badge don't pay them, they are scammers. I like trains so 2 blocks away is a train graveyard with lots of old trains that you can walk through no charge.

Surrounded by beautiful old buildings this square is perfect to take a break sitting on a bench and just soak in the peaceful charm.

This plaza is so much better kept up than where we visited in Havana. The museum was quite interesting with a variety of art and history, and the statue of Jose Marti speaks for itself. I have a few pics, but can't figure out how to attach.

the structures of their old buildings, the richness of their history and the pride they show, also there is lots of opportunities to buy souvenirs and I spend an hour in a cigar shop in their hunidor room where I had A Cohiba and an expresso (the expresso cost .50 pesos

This is a very pleasant, large, open square. This UNESCO World heritage site is a great place to explore the buildings around it's edges, have a bite to eat in a street side cafe, or to just sit a people watch. Just a few of the buildings and sights to explore here are, Statue of Jose mart, Theatre Tomas Terry, Cathedral de la Purisma and Casa de Cultura

Cienfuegos is a picturesque colonial town situated on the south coast of Cuba. The old city and central square Plaza Jose Marti are in French colonial style. There is a well-maintained garden in the middle of the square with a statue of Jose Marti in centre. The biggest sight is the Theatre Thomas Terry, situated bythis square. Classical theatre building, large, with authentical decor, mosaics and ceiling frescoes, was opened 1895 and welcomed such artists as Enrico Caruso and Anna Pavlova. Plaza is a most romantic place in the evening, when sun goes down and street singer performes "Besame mucho"
