Don't miss this. Day or night diving, it's fantastic. The right side has sea horses and very shallow columns. Take a boat ride to the end of pier and see turtles, spotted eagle rays and well encrusted pillars. The left side starts as ruble but leads you to the dolphins of the old pier. BEAUTIFUL. Spend some time on the sand and find octopus, batfish, gurnards and rays.

This is where our cruise ship docked and is also a local attraction of sorts. Frederiksted is very quiet compared to the other Caribbean ports we visited. There is a nice beach within walking distance just past the fort. Nobody bothers you so you can simply enjoy the visit.

We thought there might be some charm in Fredriksted, and there are some quaint little streets, but the pier is, well, a pier. No amenities, no shade, just functional.

If you are a beginner snorkeler, make sure someone assists you getting in and out of the water and where to go. Also, we were warned more than once: do not leave any belongings in site. No snorkeling allowed while a cruise ship is in port. All that said, you will be rewarded with a great snorkel experience. SOO many spots you find the coral reefs in a bad way. Destroyed by storms, people, etc. Not so here. Around the pier pilings, there is colorful living coral, and lots of fish!! You encounter a stingray or turtle as well. Highly recommend.

I read recommendations that this was one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. We visited the pier specifically for that reason. We did see many fish and the coral growths along the pier pilings were cool. However, I think this spot is better as a dive rather than a snorkel. We snorkeled at several other locations and found them to be better. Worth a visit, but if you are a novice snorkeler, the deep water and big drop off the side of the pier may mean that this spot isn't for you. I would recommend other sites for snorkeling over this one.

Not much to say other than it's convenient to downtown walking and right next to the Fort. There's some pretty views.

A must do if you are staying near Frederiksted. Cool locals tip - if you are brave take a dive from the Pier. There's a ladder to climb back up. Also the snorkeling is great near there, but watch out for rare hammer heads. We didn't see any though but heard from the locals they show up time to time.

Amazing fish at midnight - Walk in groups and enjoy tarpon, rays, turtles and a bunch of local fishermen and women.

Must do and free! Good views and photo ops. Go when there is no ship. Will snorkel when we come back.

There is a nice boardwalk and the town is small and looks lovely. Too bad it seems to come alive only on cruise ship days. When we drove there on a Monday early afternoon all shops were closed. It is a short driving distance to the best beaches of St. Croix, on the west side, Sand Point beach, Sand Castle beach, Frederiksted beach and Rainbow beach, on the way to the rain forest.

Hi, we arrived by Nowegian Cruise and were greated by Gordon your tour guide and taxi driver. He has 42 years experience and showed us all over the island. It was nice to stop at the local stores and supermarket. He will take you the attractions as well as where you would like to go. It was a very pleasant experience. Dad is in a wheelchair and he was great helping with dad. You can reach (Gordon) him at 340-277-9367 or home at 340-719-4662.

The pier is the ONLY reason we came to St. Croix. The night dive to see the Seahorses, Lobster, and Octopus is excellent.... As long as SCUBA Dive shop provides the guides to point out where the critters are hiding.

Frederiksted looks like a stage that is set and waiting for something to happen. The town makes me sad because I see the potential but all it needs is some more activity from cruise ships. St Thomas is overcrowded and St Croix is the sleepy island just waiting to burst upon the scene. Bring the cruise ships and watch a Renaissance here. For now just make sure you go to Christiansted because that place is awesome. The restaurants like Strand 40, Tavern 1844, and many others are great and the waterfront is uncrowded with brand new tree walkways and lighting. The fort is great. Take a tour there.

we traveled here on a Sunday afternoon and nothing was open. Just get to see the boats that are in the dock.
