I highly recommend Government House! The garden was beautiful and the view to the mountain was amazing. If you don't mind walking, you should take a stroll through Rockland - a very nice neighbourhood.

Lovely house to see, beautiful grounds and lovely views. Well worth a visit. We were staying in the nearby neighbourhood.

Couldn't figure how to get into the building but walked the grounds and enjoyed a fantastic warm day in March. Number of people sitting on benches reading and one lady was feeding the ducks. Lots of spring flowers and blooming trees.

Visitors should definitely take advantage of the ability to sit in the gallery and watch lawmakers in action. Our visit was ad hoc, and in hindsight we should have found when guided tours were offered as we picked up some cool information just listening to the guide leading the group passing through the hall.

Government House is the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of BC; the Queen's representative. It is about 2 kilometres from downtown Victoria, in a largely residential area, so many visitors are not aware of it. However, it is a jewel and well worth a visit. The style and furnishings of the house itself befit its regal role but it is not often open to the public - check the website (ltgov.bc.ca/gov-house) for times and dates. However the gardens are open every day of the year and they are beautiful with a spectacular view. Totally maintained by 100s of volunteers they are worth a visit at any season. And they are free! (unlike some much better-known gardens!) The tea house and interpretive centre are open in the summer and are a delight.

The grounds in springare spectacular and overlook the Straits of Juan de Fuca. Do not miss it if possible.

We attended the 50th birthday party for Canada's Flag. It was a great event. The ceremony was about as expected. Sea cadets marched and the band played. The flag was raised and we sang O Canada. The party then moved into the main ballroom for entertainment and a birthday party with cake. If you get a chance to see the inside take it as it is a beautiful building with an incredible view over the city. It helped that the sun was shining and flowers beginning to bloom.

We love the gardens at Government House at any time of year. There is always something to see. The view is also spectacular and it's pleasant to sit for a few minutes and drink it in. The relatively new addition of the interpretive centre and cafe are nice additions when they're open.

When I was in Victoria last weekend, the BC government house had the free guided tour for Sat. I didn't think too much of it when I joined the tour but it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. The house is delightful and well maintained with lots of treasures. What I want to emphasize here is the professionalism of the volunteers who acted as our tour guides. Susan is so knowledgeable about the house and she is passionate about her job. I highly recommend the guided tour who is going to visit Victoria. Check out their website first for the days that the house is open to the public.

A visit to Government House is a delightful time to be spent strolling the gardens and enjoying the spectacular view from the hill. Any time of year is great, but spring is breathtaking with the huge collection of rhododendrons in bloom.

Make sure you can get a tour here. Usually one Saturday per month, but you can book a private tour with 10 or more in a group. Beautiful and historic. The guides are terrific. It is free to attend. If closed, view the gardens.

This is the seat of the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, the Queen's representative in the Province of British Columbia and the nominal head of the Provincial Government. The House is a nice old house but it is the grounds that truly impress. A lot of time and energy is spent maintaining the grounds and the flowers are fantastic. If you are a flower person, this is definitely worth the visit. If you are not a flower person, this is worth a quick visit but nothing spectacular. There is an open house once a year and if you are in town for that, it is a good visit. If you are getting married, this is also a popular place for photographs.

A wonderful place to visit when in Victoria. The official residence of the Lieutenant Govenor and the Queen when she is in Victoria. Beautiful gardens.

Went to the Christmas Caroling evening at Government House on December 12th. It was a wonderful evening, the house was beautiful as were the decorations. The event was hosted by the Lieutenant Governor Judith Guichon who was a wonderful host who danced to Carols with the children present. The decorations staff and refreshments were all great.
