I truly enjoyed my experience at fish rock. It is a great family run business with personalized service. Jon was willing to take only a few people out on his boat. This enabled a much closer interaction with the marine life. In the afternoons we were often the only people diving at the site. The dive masters were very professional and took the time educate us about the creatures of the sea and took great underwater photos of their guests. I loved swimming with the sharks and turtles. I would highly recommend diving at Fish Rock through the fish rock dive centre.

Ten thousand times better than diving in the great barrier reef! Employees from Fish Rock Dive Centre are really friendly and nice. They even take underwater photos for you for free.

Another great adventure. Jon & his team are just fantastic. Always safe while having fun enjoying the fantastic under water experience at this location. Highly recommend these guys, especially there focus on quality not quantity- small group size makes for a far better time on the boat & under the water. Looking forward to my next dive with these guys. Scot

I learnt to dive with this very professional dive shop 8 months ago,the back up and support that Jon and his team gave me was a big relief as there was no stress at all for me gaining my recreational open water dive ticket. I feel so lucky ,as i've been told Fish Rock is the best dive in Australia. Now having been under the waves at Fish Rock,i can definitely say that it's been a life changing experience and i'm now addicted to diving. The cave is amazing and all the marine life is something to see. Thanks again Jon, I'll Be Back.

Well, obviously the dive was amazing - read the comments below if you have any question in your mind about that. What made this dive particularly unique was the hospitality of the dive centre. Right from the moment you walked into the shop, they gave you the time and attention, and no matter how skilled a diver you are, it felt like they were personally invested in making you even better. We've been to many dive centres along the east coast of Australia where you feel like you are just another number, but this was different.Jon was a fantastic captain but we were particularly impressed with Matt, the dive master, who along the way pointed out many of the landmarks and the history of this impressive town and went out of his way to make sure everyone was well looked after under water. He was at all times calm and helpful, without ever being condescending. This is an incredible dive location - from the abundance of grey nurse sharks, to the beauty of the cave, this is a real sensory overload.Five stars!!

What a dive! The conditions where magnificent. Vis was around 25m or more, absolute pristine. I have never seen so many Grey Nurse sharks in my life, and the abundance and plethora of wildlife was mind boggling. I recommend these guys, really down to earth and wonderful to dive with.

The diving at Fish Rock is amazing, and the experience that you get when you dive with the boys from fish rock dive centre is second to none! It's a family run business and you feel like a family member when you dive there. Matt and Jake are great divers, knowledgable and friendly they make every dive fun and safe. I wouldn't dive with anyone else! Highly recommend!!!

Felt a bit flat after this experience - found some staff to be rushed and subsequently 'short' when we were selecting our gear, with sarcastic quips and smarmy-ness as the day rolled on. Our very young and somewhat arrogant dive master did not point out a single thing underwater - in fact the most enthusiastic thing I saw him do was make an offensive sign with his middle finger to his colleague who was diving along side us. I had some trouble getting used to the integrated BCD weights which were not adequately explained, and as the BCD was fitted with 3 times the weight I usually dive with, I tried to hand this young dive master some weight. He refused to take it initially (possibly a misunderstanding), but then when I tried to swim away and cope with the extra weight, he forcefully grabbed my tank - I had no clue what was going on, only felt the unexpected force - this really shook me up and I lost confidence for the rest of the day.Having said that, there was one fantastic young man working there (?Jake) who beamed with enthusiasm about the dive, and was helpful and friendly from the get go - if only we could have been in his group, I think we would have had a much better time.I'd recommend that in order to improve the experience for guests, the staff and management introduce themselves to guests prior to giving orders; that they take time to explain their BCD-integrated weights rather than loading all guests up with the same weight; that the sarcasm is toned down and the smiles and friendliness turned up; and that the dive master takes some time to point out the many beautiful intricacies of this amazing dive site.

I had a really amazing time diving with the guys from Fish Rock Dive Centre. This dive trip couldn't have been better without the help of Jon and Matt, who were extremely knowledgeable and helpful with everything in and out of the water.I'll start with the guys from the Dive Centre since everyone probably knows how awesome the dive sites are - Jon and co. were impeccable with helping to set up our equipment and checking it as safety was their first priority, giving detailed briefs about what to expect and what we should/should not do. En route to fish rock on the boat they even helped us spot whales/ sea turtles and even dolphins, something that we were told was pretty uncommon in the area! Service was really excellent. Each group was treated as if they were the only customers on the dive and that felt very sincere. They help you on and off your scuba equipment before and after the dives and even help you to change your air tanks in between dives! Yep, you just sit there and enjoy the snacks, warm beverages (coffee, tea and soup), hot water baths and warm jackets they provide and not to mention the awesome view of the sea. Yes you read that right - HOT WATER BATHS, which felt like the next best thing on earth at that time apart from the actual dive itself. During the dive itself, they were more than happy to spot the various marine life in the water and took unbelievable pictures and videos for us all for free just so that we could truly enjoy the view and not be concerned with anything else!If you're wondering about equipment, wetsuits felt really new and clean, kept us really warm in the water as well (5mm Neptune suits they provided in 20 deg waters). More importantly, the BCDs and Regulators looked and felt really new and well maintained, which is always good to know!Last but not least, the dive sites at Fish Rock was more than I could have ever asked for, with more sharks that I could have asked for just floating around you so nonchalantly, those majestic and often misunderstood creatures are just a spectacle to behold. The cave itself was truly an experience for me as we swam through it twice. The sheer number of fish, lobsters, scallops etc. was really one of the best views I have ever had in my life and you truly need to be there amongst them to experience it for yourselves! It was truly an exhilarating and unforgettable experience diving with the sharks and inside that small but awesome cave at Fish Rock. Would definitely rate this place as one of the top dive sites in NSW, if not Australia and I would definitely not hesitate to be back in the helpful hands of the guys from Fish Rock Dive Centre when I'm back.

Firstly know that you will NEVER fear sharks again after meeting these Labradors of the sea animals. The owners and staff are superb. They have set the bar so high no other operator can match them. They make you feel as if you are the only customer. They set up your equipment, check mixture and pressure with you; Actually CARRY your equipment onto the boat, help you on with your equipment and change tanks for you! I mean talk about being spoiled! Then they provide a free guide for me to go through the Fish cave-which, though quite an unepected strong surge, was still awesome. Better to do two dives through it as the second would help one to know what to expect and where to point camera. I forgot to do the Bubble cave! Outside the cave and in the gutters are where all the action is. Get down in the gutter for the best pictures and just wait for these timid creatures to swim by totally unconcerned with divers. I saw three with hooks in their mouths and wished I could have helped them. So many schools of various fish I didn't recognize. Saw Crayfish, Wobbygongs--(which evidently can bite!) a turtle and a few other divers too. The boat out was comfortable, food and various drinks on offer. I was given a DVD and no payment asked. Found five teeth with the help of my great guide. And ONE hour each dive at 25 meters was just fantastic-especially still getting to surface with 50 barr. Would you believe Nitrox is FREE and all hire gear only $40. What value! DO NOT DEFER any longer.Book in, the water is warm, Whales are about the rest of the year-hear them singing under water while taking endless memorable videos. What an experience.

Haven't got much to add to what has already been written, but felt compelled to share how great I found the diving at S.West Rocks and through Fish Rock Dive Centre in particular. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic guys, small crew and boat so you don't get that 'package tour' feel of some dive centres in places like Cairns, and great quality rental gear - best I've used in Oz. Diving itself was thrilling stuff, up close with Nurse sharks, Bull Rays, turtles... and good fun going through the cave. They even filled my USB stick with pics of the dive for free, most places like to charge another $20-30 for that kind of service.Highly recommended.
